Hi!

Right from the get go, players will be able to download community OOB mods made from the original Civil War: Bull Run and modified to play on Take Command: Second Manassas.

Here's some shots of Open Play game setups using the different OOBs:

1stManassas (the original CWBR OOB)

Chickamauga - This looks playable at the army level.

Gettysburg

Corps level game as Pleasonton from the Gettysburg OOB with a shot of the larger cavalry regiments used in the OOB with the Laurel Junction map.

While most of the OOB's are far too large to play on the maps, what they do do is give you options for playing different Corps level games. I played Pleasonton in the Corps level game shown above. It rocked... lots of cavalry charges!!!

So OOB's are easy moddable ? Or is there a sort of scenario generator ?

Also, can I change the outlook of the troops, f.e. if I create zouaves or the Louisiana Tigers, will they look like those units ?

If you assign the correct uniform to them they will. TC2M like CWBR will be extremely moddable. If you have Excel then it is easy to mod most of the files. It can be done with Notepad as well, but you have to be careful to maintain the correct comma's since all of the moddable files are .csv files.

One mod I have tried is a "What If". What if all the Union troops in a Corps were equipped with Sharps Rifles? Can make for a very bad day for an Confederates that they run into. Since most of the Union weapons will now open fire at 400 yds vice the 160 yds of the Confederates, it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

There is an Open Play feature where you can select units from any of the OOBs you have loaded on your system. The AI will select a matching sized unit from the opposition OOB. There are six different battle classes that you can select (e.g. attack, defend, etc). You can also select to have your batttle on any of the eight maps incuded in the game.

Assigning a new unit an existing uniform can be done by editing the appropriate *.csv file. Creating new uniforms is somewhat more difficult and is best done by creating the eight 3D animations needed and then rendering out the 2D frame files that the game actually loads into memory.

That is strange as during some minor altercation on Morgan's raid the exact opposite happened. Union troops where armed with Sharp's but could not hurt the Confed rifles at the longer range.

And the future is nice. Now I can have J.S. Mosby fighting at 2nd BR :)

Did the Yankees have the Sharp's Rifle or Carbine?

Like Beagler asked, which version of the Sharps were they armed with? It makes a big difference since the carbine had a much shorter range. Also, were they veteran troops or state troops. The level of training would make another huge difference. Exactly which raid and which engagement on that raid are you referring to? Would be interesting to study the records to see exactly what happened.

I think his question was which Sharps did the Yankees have? There were a number of Sharps variants, but you can boil them down to two categories. The Sharps Rifle and the Sharps Carbine. Which one did the Union soldiers possess?

If he is referring to the Federal cavalry that was pursuing Morgan during the Great Raid, the answer is 'carbines.' In the Jul 63 Great Raid, some militia units supposedly had Henry rifles and gave Morgan quite a scare on a few occasions.

It was not abnormal for even some of the early war regiments to have a 'rifle' company armed with Sharps in 1861-62. I know the 5th New York had a Zouave rifle company (Company E?) in 1861, and they kept them as long as the regiment was around (discharged in May 63).

Hi!

I just got done doing an OOB mod and it is now available for testing by the beta testers if they care to.

I made a number of changes to the TC2M OOB. Here's a couple shots:

I liked the 5 New Yorks Zouve uniform, so I gave it to a whole brigade:

I also decided to pull all the cavalry units together into one large cavalry division, commanded by yours truely...Brig Gen Lava

I think the mod came out okay, while find out soon enough. But if I could do it, think pretty much anybody can.

Cheers!

lava and his crazy mods

nothing like "Elwards MCA legion"

1400 men per regiment w/ Sharps rifles and zouave uniforms :p

believe it or not the reason i love this game is
you will almost NEVER play the same game twice.
and that their is infinite moddability
im currently working on Col.E's Fictional OOB.
