certain countries have weird flags, a country around silesia has a "Hellas" flag, some countries in indonesia/indochina have minor french country flags such as auvgerne and bourbonaise, one country even has the pirates flag as their flag, and probably more, is this normal?

Kind of late to answer this, but you mind find this helpful.
The presence of strange flags in strange areas means that you don't have the 'normal' shields MyMap uses. AFAIK though, they are included in the game package, in gfx/map/shields and gfx/map/flags... Perhaps you haven't unpacked the install file correctly? Another way is to just download the flags/shields AGCEEP uses, for they are pretty much the same as MyMap (not quite sure about this though, as MyMap has a lot of new provs/countries, so...), I think.
