I don't know if this has been brought up, it might have been, but the chance of dueling another character during a battle seems very high for me, although I have a feeling this might be dictated by a high martial trait? If that's the case then fine.

The reason I asked was that, playing as Harald Hardrada, who admittedly has a high martial skill and so this is what made me think the above might be the case, I went to war against both the King of Sweden, then on another occasion the ruler of Ulster, the first two conflicts I fought, and in both battles I happened to find almost every commander on the field and engage them in personal combat. Is this not a bit excessive even with my high martial skill? I like the duels, just not on every occasion of battle since my character constantly finding the enemy's leader and dueling seems unlikely and can lead to wars being cut short a bit anti-climatically by sudden deaths even if your army was winning anyway.
