Anselm, pope in 1066, died in the early 80s and the successor was the Bishop of Orbetello.

I scrolled over to see what was what and the corpse of Anselm now ruled the province of Orbetello (with Papal colouring / CoA) while the ex-Bishop of Orbetello ruled the rest of the Papal State though with Orbetello's old livery etc - though he is listed as Pope in the character screen.

This is bent. Fix please.

I've observed this. It happens when a Papal vassal is elected Pope. The game apparently tries to simultaneously return the elected vassal's lands to his liege (the now-dead Pope) and to place the vassal in Rome. This results in a screwy situation with the recently-dead Pope ruling in the vassal's bishopric along with the Papal CoA. The bug can be reproduced by F12-dying Popes until the bishop of Orbetello is elected in the 1066 scenario.

For now, you can fix the situation by F12-dying the undead Pope in Orbetello. Then everything gets back into gear.

second duplicate. welcome to the club. btw. mine even got pics.
