I am playing a GC as P-L and have tried repeatedly to accomplish a "RM with Papal States" mission. I have a military alliance with them, >+150 relations, the same religion, and my monarch has high diplo skills, but my RM offer is always turned down (for over 100 years). Are the Papal States all priests and nuns, never marrying :) ?

Just trying to understand more of the inner workings of the game.

Thanks. This is a great forum!

From what I understand, the Papal States and the Knights do not engage in royal marriages.

Also, some missions are impossible to accomplish. For example, major powers cannot be vassalized or annexed and sometimes the missions will demand just that. Other missions are extraordinarily difficult. Some people turn the missions off for this reason. Other people like these quirky missions - they add a challenge and it simulates the irrational "I'm the King!" mentality of some monarchs. It depends on what you like.

ok...........is the Papal states the same as the HRE? or is it the states in a loose confederation that the pope would lead?...if the later then i guess you can understand why there is no royal marriages. (and then agian i am shooting completely in the dark here)
