I've posted some of these before, but I'll post this as a refresher as well as add new ideas that I've had since:
So firstly, the new game needs higher limits. With 25 tiles, even with 4x vehicles mods, I run out of possible public transport routes and my vehicle limit comes close to expiring. And I only place buses, trams and trolley buses downtown, and do not build express rail lines to save limits (which is a shame because it limits me). Limits should be increased at least 16 fold, with the option to increase it more than even that if you have the computing power (I bought a gaming laptop SPECIFICALLY for CS, so I probably should be able to handle the extra computing power).
Further, I am a bit upset about canals. They're more or less useless, because you can't bridge then nor build tunnels under them
Pocket cars should absolutely be disabled. And carparks should be seperate entities to cars. But with that comes car ferries, motorail on trains and personal boats as a form of recreation/commuting, which also comes with water police and police boats.
What else doesn't make sense is that fishing boats, ferries and cruise ships/freight ships can cross each other without colliding. Further, bridges can be short and not interfere with sea traffic. How is it possible for ships to pass under under height bridges
Intercity car/passenger ferries and cruise ships should also be seperate things, where as ferries are a form of transport and cruise ships make short stops in the city then move on. Travellers without a car shouldn't have access to one without hiring one, meaning more car hire option (if this doesn't overcomplicate the algorithm, which it might, so therefore, there should be car rental at train stations and wharves like there is at airports if it'll make the algorithm easier). Also, unique buildings that actually do stuff rather than serve as defacto statues (especially casinos) and state-owned enterprise
Parklife 2.0
I would suggest the following parks:
Botanical Gardens
Camp Grounds
Golf Courses
City Parks
Amusement Parks
Ski Resorts
Beaches
Water Parks
Zoos
Nature Parks
City Parks and nature parks work the way they do now, but nature parks can have actual on-sight accommodation in the form of actual tents and actual cabins, and actual toilets. Botanical gardens are the same as city parks, but with plants instead of things like chess boards and trampolines. You can plant both decedious and/or evergreen plants, if you incorporate that idea. Golf courses also work the same way (snow golf in winter).
Amusement Parks and zoos works in the same way they do now, except you can build on-sight resorts. You can also add water parks, which are like amuzement parks, but waterslides, lazy rivers, wave pools, etc. You can also have on-sight resorts here. I'll circle back to what an on-sight resort is later
You can also have beaches and ski resorts. People can swim at any beach or ski anywhere that allows for it, but it'll be an unpatrolled beach or off-psite skiing. You can have patrolled beaches as well as other beach infrastructure if you paint a park around the beaches, and have proper ski infrastructure and ski patrol in any area you paint as a ski area.
On-Site resorts
For beaches, zoos, ski areas, amusement parks, and water parks. This is where you zone commerical areas WITHIN the park. There is a higher than average restaurants and park-specific shops in the area, as well hotels. On sight hotels will typically be more expensive than off-sight hotels. You can also build worker's accommodation. If these ski areas or beaches are targeting tourists, this will serve as the defacto downtown for them. You can still build kiosks, cafes, etc. Outside of the resort, but those have to be individually placed, and will be owned directly by the resort. This is also where there are roads and carparks, and you can also have shuttle buses around these resorts, if you want. Beach resorts can also apply to entire islands. Off coarse, locals will also make use of the resort shops and cafes and restaurants and other businesses. Resort areas can also have public transport serving them.
Maybe you can have the same with winaries, but zoned as agricultural and placed on fertile land?
Then we have caravan parks and camp grounds. Here you place serviced cabins (with ensuites), unserviced cabins (without ensuites), public toilets and public showers. This is also a place where you pitch a tent or park an RV/Caravan/Campervan. The higher the ratio of unserviced cabins and tents to public toilets and showers, the longer the queues. Also, dump points where RVs/campervans/caravans can dump their sewerage. The fewer dump points, the longer the queues
There should also be public toilets and pay toilets around town (open 24 hours in leisure areas) and I don't know how you want to take the consequences of not placing toilets around the joint. I also don't know if you'd want to place public urinals around town, which (partially) benefit men but not women, but if you have free urinals with pay toilets, women (rightfully) complain. If CS wants to take it that far. I can perfectly understand if you don't. But even without toilets, the rest should at least be considered
