Patch 1.08 -> No EU CD found

Hi,

When tried to install UK patch 1.08 I get "No EU CD found" message when try to start the game. Patch should be right, at least that is what my friend who I bought CD from says, and 1.08 patch worked for him. Also tried NA patch and it couldn't find EU installed at all..

Friend bought game from Helsinki, Finland ..if there are finns who knows if version is right :)

I got Windows 2000, NEC DVD drive and haven't done anything that would change drive letters (registry setting for EU still says CD drive is Z and explorer agrees)
 
Which begs the question - is it an original CD or a copy?

Do you have the box? If it has Koch Media logo on it then it is the UK version.

We are going to test this but it seems that some DVD drives have problems with the copy protection of the UK version.

Original, but box is still with my friend.. am little sick so have time to play, but not in mood to go out. Day when I don't have money to buy games I start to wonder where all my paychecks go :p

I would think that it is problem with DVD because friend also has Win2000 ...or not 100% sure if he stopped playing EU before installed Win2k.

Haven't had problems with it before, but don't get that much new games..
 
Try the german patch. I got (i think) the benelux version, but both the BEN and UK patch dont work. With both patches i get also EU cd not found. And NA patch couldnt find the install too, but the german patch works fine, you only have to replace the german text.czv(not sure of the last three characters) with the original one and everything should work. I tried this and it works fine by me.
 
Tried DE, BEN, UK, NA patches and nothing worked.. but like guy in other thread said it could be CD drive lettering (my CD is called Z)

Have to try it.. perhaps I should call it a workday done and go home just to test it :)

I now have the same thing as u have, i rexently hed to replace my cr-rom player, cos with the old one i couldnt play the game at all. Before i replaced it i also had my driveletter set on Z. Now ith back on g, cos on Z the game will not start at all( no error message, just been kicked back to windows, same effect when you try to run the game without the EU-CD). But on g the game workes fine.

So, why is this requirement in the 1.08 patch, but not the 1.07?

I own the 1.07 BEN version (at least I bought it in the Netherlands), and none of the 1.08 patches works for me (not even the German one, as some of you have suggested)

My CD-ROM drive is not the first drive letter after the last HD, but only a ZIP drive letter is in between. I can't believe that this would cause a problem. A ZIP drive, after all, is totally different from a CD-ROM, even to Windows.

I would suggest that for a 1.09 patch (should there ever be one), Paradox restores the copy protection code of the 1.07 version ! At least that code actually detects a valid, official CD when inserted in the drive :)
 
You had it better than I did.

My CD drive is mapped to X:\. The game wouldn't even RUN after installed from the CD ! (version 1.07b).

After installing the patch, I then got the "CD not found error" you reported.

Remapping the drive back to directly after the Hard Drives and reinstalling (or changing the EU registry key for the CD) solves the problem and will then permit the game to boot both before and after the patch.

Odd.
