Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Mayors keep becoming independent whenever an Orthodox Lord Bishop usurps a Catholic temple title
There's also alot of usurping events with Orthodox Lord Bishops usurping temple titles off Orthodox priests, but mayors stay vassallised
They only seem to become independent when it's an orthodox Lord Bishop usurping a temple title off a Catholic priest
Basically my set up is this:
Most counties in a duchy are controlled by a priest
One county out of every duchy I give to a mayor, who I then make Duke, becoming a merchant republic in the process. Make sure you have unlimited theocracy & merchant republics vassals rules set to allow it
Steps to reproduce the issue.
- Control an entire duchy with every county religion being Catholic, make sure each county has 2 temples minimum
- Assign every county except one to an Orthodox Priest, make sure one minor temple in each county is controlled by a Catholic vassal to the Orthodox Lord Bishop
- Assign the last county to an Orthodox mayor then make him a duke, so he becomes Lord mayor with the lord bishops being his vassals
- Wait for the pop ups that tells you the Orthodox Lord Bishop has usurped a title
- Any mayors in that county have now become independent
