Patch can't find game?

Just got hearts of iron so thought it'd be a good idea to install the latest patch before I start playing however when I open the patch it searches a bit then it says it can't find the game though it is here, I have 'played' it and all.
I have it in a different folder to paradox, do I need to move it or what?

do you use a 'modified' exe-file?

Please give us some more info like what version(publisher) the game is. Also what your operating system is.
Have you downloaded the right patch for your version?

Had the same problem but i had tried to install the wrong patch version,try and install the other patch and it will probably work!

Very true, and a good point to make again to make sure everyone knows!

There are two versions of the patch for the two different publishers - Strategy First for North America and PanVision for Scandinavia.

This solved a problem my friend was having while trying to patch up. He downloaded the incorrect version.

Someone in another thread was beating himself up a bit for doing this mistake - I told him that it's happening to a lot of people and that anyone could make that mistake - and here's the proof!
