Me and my flatmate have been trying to play HoI2 together, but for some reason I can't patch Armageddon. I download the file, I run the .exe, it installs to 1.2 vblv, and then I go into the game and it still says 1.1. I tried to patch it to 1.3 as well but that makes the game freeze during the loading screen.

If you're using Vista, install the game to any directory you like, but not into "C:\program files". Vista protects the files in that directory and thus the patch might not be applied correctly.

Also, if you use the Anthology, you need to manually correct the patch path as it will be set to "Doomsday" by default, while the Anthology makes Arma install into a folder called "Armageddon" instead.

And as a last thing: If you got the game by digital download - and not gamersgate - then you might not be able to apply the forum patches at all, as some providers keep the executables at their servers so you can only patch through their client (this is especially true for Steam).
