Trying to get Eu2 to run on a second PC, I have encountered some strange problems. I install the game, and the vanilla (1.2) version works like a charm. But when I patch it to 1.8, I can only get so far as picking a country, and start the game, before it chrashes to desk top.
It happens before I get the screen with "loading scenario" and so on.
I even tried patching with 1.7 (nordic version), with the same problem.

Any ideas ? (XP, more than enough RAM, HD...)

This is actually a support issue rather than bug reporting so it will probably get moved.

Have you tried the basics?

1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.

What are the specs of the new PC (CPU/RAM/sound/video/OS version/DirectX version)? What publisher (I expect Vision Park since you tried the Nordic patch)?

Following my standard advice jdrou has posted will fix you up.

Ah, didn't notice the tech-support forum - sure explains why there is no general advice in the bug forum ;).

The AVI-thing did the trick, thanks ! :)

Great!
