What's all this? Another patch? Yes, it's true. After talking to some of our players in Australia while on a press tour for EUIV, I promised to fix the Councillor/Government screen crash in Rome. So here it is, beta patch 2.36c.

Checksum: XEVC

CHANGE LOG:

2.36c:
- Fixed crash when having a free councillor position
- Fixed a crash that could occur at the end of civil wars or when countries switched tags
- Missions to get access to trade goods now complete correctly immediately when a trade route is done setting up

2.36b:
- Fixed a crash with selecting states with no historical ruler in the lobby
- Fixed an exit crash

2.36:
- Fixed two crash bugs
- Fixed some issues with icons and buttons on portraits not being shown or hidden correctly
- Fixed some bugged trigger tooltips
- No more extra population transfer to colonies under construction when you load a save game

I was just about to complain in another forum (reasons for not buying EUIV) about the length of time this has been broken and came here to check how long it has actually been. Thanks Doomdark you actually gave me my first laugh of the day. Much appreciated.

I also came onto the Rome forum to write something like "Now, that EU4 has been released I hope PDS, finally, finds the time to patch Rome again" and discovered this. Nice, thank you Doomdark. Can we take this as an indication that the announcement of Rome 2 is imminent? ;-)

Just downloaded and see there is no installer. Should I extract it all somewhere and then copy to Rome VV or just extract it in what I think is the correct directory?

Also - does this fix the cascading alliances that I kept reading about but which rather put me off really trying this game?

Edit - took a chance and it seems to load OK. Thanks.

I think when you go into multiplayer, and host a game, on the lower right area of your screen is the version of your game and right next to it in parenthesis are some letters. Those are the ones you are looking for to make sure they are right with the ones provided in the list.

Excellent. Thank you. I've never been able to see the checksum before on Rome. I play on a laptop and it just never showed up in the bottom left where EU3 shows its checksum.

However, I attached to an external screen and I got in the left hand corner. - Rome v2: But nothing after the : and so I thought I had buggerated something, but now it seems I'm OK with the XEVC.

Thank you.

For those wondering - I haven't checked every file, but it looks like the only changes are in the Romegame.exe file, so if you have a modded game you should just be able to copy that over to patch your game.

I'm just testing it out on a campaign I started a couple of weeks ago, I'll edit this post if there are any issues with this.

NOt sure if it matters but I made a thread about 128mb error msg. The msg not revelevant but the 2.36 made my game too unstable. Every few months at the beginning the game would crash, maybe 2-3 times a year. But as soon as the save files got over 15mb, it got way too bad. Every over month , sometimes every single month when the golden revenue numbers pop up the game would crash. No error no nothing simply crash.

I ran Vanilla with it, I ran Epigoni with it, in both cases the clue was the save files, prior to 15mb it crashed a few times a year, nothing big. But after it was too much.

Went back to Running 2.32c again, ever since I been playing 5 years, and it has only crashed 3 times. The saves are over 21mb and nothing major going on.

Awesome

I was letting the AI appoint my ministers by loading a different nation to get around that one

Hi all,

installed this by extracting to Rome folder with 7-zip but can`t see the checksum anywhere. Where is/should it be visible?
Very happy that this excellent game is not abandoned, BTW.

Go to start an MP game as host, it displays there.
