I just wish they would fix the advisor CTD in monarchies. It's lame to have the last patch introduce such an annoying bug. Even with the eventfix i constantly forget and click the advisor screen and lose all my progress. I know these latest patches were done in someone's free time, but please spare 10 minutes and fix this one last thing.

It should not be a choice, any more than getting the official patch for eu3 was a choice. They should just keep their word and finish it, then move on to Rome 2 . Simple as that.

Yeah, they should still be patching EU1.

I didn't look, but is EU1's last parch still in beta? That's my point. Once the last patch is officially released, they are clear for Rome 2. I really don't expect perfection, that's not the point. I expect them to finish their work and then move forward. If they just want to release what they have and say done that is fine. Just give it some closure and not leave people wondering,

A way back I think that I read that they said they will patch Rome when they have time. That was like a long long time ago- Caesar probably approved it.

Face it, Rome patch gets released when they finish the beta patch for CK1. :p

So? Who cares if its in beta or not?
I guess I didn't catch your point, Dominus. If you were sarcastically saying that asking for a Rome final patch is like asking for a eu1 patch, that is apples and oranges. EU1 is a game that has clearly been declared done, and for most purposes, dead. It also has been replaced by successors. Rome has not yet been replaced by a Rome 2, and devs had stated they would release a final patch before declaring the game done. So, that's my point. Just that they keep their word. They did with EU3, now it is Rome's turn.

This is also a game that is dead. When the only technical support for the game is one Dev on his off time, its a dead game. This isn't a matter of honor, they've got no obligation to 'keep their word.' As has been mentioned, CK1 is still operating under a beta patch; who cares about that?

Is Rome in the "previous games" section yet? No. Sure we can say that, obviously, it sure seems dead, but Paradox has not said that officially. CK1 is now a moot point as well, since there is a clearly improved successor game, CK2. Rome as of yet does not have this.
I guess my question is why you are arguing with me on this? As a fellow owner of Rome and Vae Victis, I would think you would like the same treatment to the game as I do. Why the defensiveness? I'm not telling the developers off, I'm even saying if they want to proclaim the game dead that is fine with me. I just wish they would pull the plug or patch it officially, that's all.

I'm not being defensive, I'm going on the offense.

To say that CK1 is a moot point is to undermine your own point. I'd like to see Rome 1 be a moot point, with a inherently superior successor out there. Rome 1 and CK1 are two peas in a pod: Interesting ideas, but not nearly as well executed as they could have been. Sideshow titles, little more. Whereas CK2 is rapidly becoming one of Paradox's premier titles.

I haven't even touched my copy of Rome (well, I'd have to go re-install it) since... 2009? Maybe even 2008. Its just not really worth playing anymore.

Okaaay. Nice chatting. I don't need to waste time arguing with you, nor do I really have any reason to. The devs will do as they please, so they don't need you arguing any points for them. To be honest, if I didn't see your years of time here under your belt, I'd think your aggressiveness and argumentativeness would flag you as a troll.

BECAUSE it was worth playing right out of the box. It is the only Paradox title, with the possible exception of EU1, that didn't require many patches to become an acceptable gaming experience. CK1 and Rome share the unenviable status of being two games that were relatively short-changed on patches, never really became acceptable, and Paradox just abandoned the titles.

If Paradox learns nothing else, I hope it learns that customers really do like games to be reasonably complete and entertaining from day 1. And customers really don't like it when games get abandoned in an unfinished state.

CK2 is the only reason I considered pre-ordering Paradox titles, again. March of the Eagles cured me of that folly.

I do not expect a new patch but hope we get a 2.

If they do absolutely nothing else, I think they should at least fix the game-crashing government bug in the beta patch, which makes the game pretty much unplayable and prevents people from enjoying the numerous interesting new features that were in the beta.
