Excitedly started playing the new DLC last night, only to notice you now need to pay (and a hefty sum of gold at that - 275 or 550) to have your child/child relative study a language (regardless of court tutor etc etc), which I was surprised at, as I can't see it mentioned anywhere on the change log or 1.13.0 update.

On top of that I don't think the function is working - I agree to pay the money, click on the 'study language' confirm button, and a banner notifcation pops up telling me 'X is now studying Y language', same as ever. BUT, no money leaves my 'account', and the option to 'have child learn language' is still there (whereas normally it greys out with a 'X is already studying a language' explainer). So, effectively, no more language learning as a child.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I hope they fix that soon, because I do like to let my Childs learn as many Languages as possible.

I noticed it says they are learning the language against YOU. So I went into the game files and fixed the bug.

Under education interactions in the character interactions folder in the common folder of the game it has TARGET_SCOPE = scope:recipient

It's supposed to be TARGET_SCOPE = scope:secondary_actor

It's pretty funny because literally the line above it says the child is learning the language of custom_tooltip = secondary_actors_language

My guess somebody at Paradox was tired that day. I also commented out the gold cost stuff in the file because it isn't actually being applied to the scheme at the end so it's an incomplete event.

I attached the file below.

So, effectively, no more language learning as a child.

Yes, others are experiencing the same issue. The cost shows up, the confirmation banner appears, but no gold is deducted and the child doesn't actually start learning the language. Likely a bug—hopefully it'll be fixed in an upcoming patch.
