First three things to try:
1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Make sure nothing is running in the background like Virus protection, ICQ/Messager ...
 
Start-run-then type dxdiag.
Select each tab in turn and run all the tests, then on the first tab, select the button at the bottom right to save results to file.
Post the content of that file here.
 
What part are you having trouble with.
Hit the start menu button, then the Run button, when the dialoge box pops up, type in "dxdiag" without the quote marks.
The tabs are along the top of the window that pops up.
Each one is like sound or graphics, each one will have tests that you can run, run them all.
On the first tab ( the one on the left) at the bottom right corner there is a button to push that will save all the info to a text file.
Select this and save the file to the desktop or mydocuments ( to make it easier to find).
Then open that file with wordpad, then copy and paste that info here.
Just put the info that will fit in one post.
