In Sweden you are taught "the Queens English" from ~10 years age in school. However, American culture (TV, Movies etc) is dominant in our society now. When I was a kid in the 80's it was mostly English stuff, but that's changed. Maybe it will lead to American English being taught in school too eventually?
In any case, I've notice it's lead up to a mixture and you are just as likely encountering British as American English in your daily life, and many (me included) are not always even sure which one is which anymore
