pentarch gone when vassal asked transfer vassalage

So im playing as byzantium, holy warred antioch, installed duke, next thing he asks for transfer vassalage of his de jure vassal, patriarch of antioch. I gave him vassal, and next thing i see is this pentarch gone on a religion screen. He still is there, of my religion, vassal of my vassal, but no longer a pentarch.

I might be wrong, but since the Bishop of Antioch is a vassal under a duke, he can't get the duke teir title that makes him a pentarch.

IIRC you need to wait for an event to fire for him to actually become a pentarch. It won't happen if he's under a duke, and when it does happen he'll be duke-tier himself so the duke won't be able to ask for the vassal transfer.

doesnt it happen automatically, when you conquer antioch? anyhow, he was present on the pentarch screen before transfer vassalage happened. But it probably is a vanilla bug, so whatchagottado?

Well it must not have happened automatically, since you can't transfer a duke under a duke. There is definitely an event that fires a couple days after the conquest, not sure if it's vanilla or Plus. I seem to recall that they didn't become proper pentarchs until that happened but I could be remembering wrong.
