Hey guys. Never done an AAR myself. I like screenshot AAR's myself with some story and maybe humor. I will try to make one myself, please be patient.

I have now played two games with Germany, w/ normal and hard, each leading to success. I will now try VH. I will do my best to utilize battle AI. That is, I don't do small routine fighting. I'm the leader of the nation. If necessary, I will command the most important missions myself - such as Luftwaffe and the most elite Panzer divisions. No failures tolerated. All generals will be sanctioned who make mistakes and fail. The leader of the nation makes none.

The weather's cool and calm in the nighttime Warsaw. Most people are sleeping at their homes preparing for the day tomorrow. Dr. Göring, are we prepared?

(I will call anyone a Dr. who is an in-game person, being taken care of by the AI. Anyone else will be called Mr.)

"Prepared, mein Fuhrer? Of course we are. In fact, just in time. The atrocious nations have put their forces together and started a war. Here is the latest report. Please lead us to peace and victory!"

As expected. They lost their nerves. Fine. I will take control of the Luftwaffe, Dr Göring. Order the whole Luftwaffe to Stettin for serious rearrangements. We wanted peace but so be it. Report when Luftwaffe has gathered at Stettin

The government meets in the morning after the atrocious hostility against our peaceloving nation.
Present are: Hess, von Ribbentrop, Funk, Himmler, Canaris, Jodl, von Brauchitsch, Raeder, Göring.

Gentlemen, as expected, and as of today, we are in state of war. We have been through this scenario several times before. The only special arrangement I have done is to take Luftwaffe in my command. (Göring looks a bit embarrased.) Any questions?

"I will start the defensive operations targeting Warsaw and other major cities of Poland, mein Fuhrer", asks von Braucsgyasg.. von Braunshits from now on, Chief of the Army.

Right. We have been through this many times, Walther. Do as you see fit. You have two months maximum. One hour more, and it's a failure. Feel free to command our generals (all of the eastern Army will be given AI instructions to capture Poland. I'm pretty sure AI will handle it. I want to save time). I will not always give AI a total control

So, Joachim, I always forget.. Who is with us?

"Italy, Japan, slovaks of course, and.. uhmm, so on..", says Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop.

Tell Japan to send us some oil, Joachim..

"Uhmmmm, mein.." statters Chief of the Navy Erich Raeder.

Fine. Italy then.

"They don't have oil, either", says Wilhelm Canaris.

Hungary then.

(Silence.)

I said HUNGARY!

"Perhaps, mein Fuhrer, we will send delegations to Hungary AND ROMANIA to make some requests for oil"

Whatever. Tell those diplomats they have one year to get us some oil or those countries are against us.

Any more questions?

"What kind of resources do we need to specialize in, sir?"

SIR???? What Kind of churchill do you think I am?? SIR Funk!! You are fired.

(2 mins of silence and gasping.)

Please let me introduce: Hjalmar Schaht. He is a known genius.
 
I did the starting stuff such as diplo, production, techno, politics and intelligence. Right now will not go into details but I will of course answer to any questions.


Dr Kesselring is ordered to defend the French border. To defend EVERY bordering province. This should guarantee that every province of our peaceloving nation is guaranteed peace at least looking at the West.

How generous, a full day of non-aggression before you take down Poland. :D
 
I separated all of the Luftwaffe from the theatre AI command. I have 3 times 3-4 Interceptors which all go West intercepting against bombing runs. The IC and unity losses could be much more fatal then the temporary losses that the Luftwaffe bombers might suffer against novice Polish fighter pilots. SO the TACs and Stukas are ordered to airbases close to Poland.

And Eastern air war. Bombers helping von Bock. (the percentages are MUCH lower than at HARD, by the way)

"I've got to hand it to you for your willingness to handicap yourself! "

So this could definitely be pretty comical in the end :D

One week of war. Someone comes knocking on my door. The knock is very enthusiastic.

"Yeh!!?"
"Mein Fuhrer,.." and in comes an enthusiastic minister called Ribbentrop.
"Sup Joachim?"

"Mein Fuhrer, we are not alone protecting peace!!!!! Check out the movements of Italians!!!!!!!!!"

"Italy? Do they have oil?"

"Mei..."

"No? Come again when you have real news. Dismissed."

Well, I have posted a lot more than I intend to in the future. The reason is that this is my first try at VH and I want to get a good feel of it. I'm getting it, for sure :rofl:

Bi-weekly meeting of the government.
1939, September 16

Present are: Hess, von Ribbentrop, ( was Funk, the first victim of Perfekt Zero-Toleranse) now Schacht, Himmler, Canaris, Jodl, von Brauchitsch, Raeder, Göring.


"Gentlemen. Are we nearing the peace in the East?"
(silence 1 min)
"Army report!!!"

"Closing Warsaw"

"It's been two weeks. I would have conquered Kiev by now!!! Everyone has one sentence then you are all dismissed but forgiven. One time."

"Uhh" Hess
"Romania is aligning with us" Ribbentrop
"All is well muaahahaha." Genius Schact
"National unity is superb" Himmler
"ehh." Canaris..

"Wilhelm?!!! Please explain why the Polish aggression is stronger than we expected!!"

"Mein Fuhrer, their bombers.."

"BOMBERS? You said they have horses. Dismissed. One time."

(silence).. Jodl

"I think I like you Jodl!"

Braushits:" Now here is the report.. during the last phase of self defense we have faced some tough resistance but we have now captured Danzig and a.."

"Keep up the bad work till France. Then you will probably get fired. Our panzer divisions should have met the Russians by now! Dismissed. One time!"

"No news." Raeder.
"Good, I dont wanna send our precious subs to hunt those fishing boats, either."

"Good news.." stutters Göring.
"Of course!! I AM IN CHARGE of the Luftwaffe!"

Ok guys, I promised to only use theater AI against Poland and I did.
As have I perfect zelo-tolerance I fired at least half of the people responsible.
The invasion ended as late as 9th of November and needless to say, Poland did not totally surrender.

The invasion went very bad in the North, as you can see from the screenshot one.
Poland actually destroyed an encircled Light Armor division. I was lucky that the south advance finished Poland before they actually destroyed more Northern divisions.
Needless to say, on 39 vh campaign that is a severe loss.

I will rearrange my armies and take manual control of most, if not all, the panzer divisions.

I will not talk with my government members any more, you can be my advisors if you want to.
Now I have two options:

Option 1

Just wait for spring before attacking Benelux and France. The POINT here is to try to diplomatically get Hungary on our side.
I have no idea whether that would succeed. However, only after we get Hungary, I will declare further wars.
See the second screenie.

Option 2

The ic comparisons are horrible. Nice to see that VH is much harder than hard (that I alreeady won easily).
GER 191/267, FRA 108/270 (!!!), UK 159/417 and SU is just huge at 179/438

So I was thinking that we might wanna invade Yugoslavia and maybe even Romania right now
while waiting for the spring 1940. Then the world would be against us - but hey, who needs Hungary anyhow?

What do you say?

I dont think I need Hungary at all. I think I need IC desperately. Fortunately Hungary is so close to Axis that they won't become Allied even if I declare a bunch of wars. In fact, a neutral Hungary might become a nice geographical "obstacle" for the possible Soviet invasion.

I think the worst problem in attacking YUG and ROM is the possible chain reaction: Blugaria, Greece and even Turkey will join Allies. The front gets way too wide. Well no, I can probably just take Istanbul and lock that route. :rofl:

The weather DOES look nice at Yugoslavian border in November,...

Here is the rearranged Wehrmacht and the plan for winter 39 - spring 40:

All (1, lol) panzers are removed from Heeresgruppe Nord.
Heeresgruppe Nord will be ordered to guard the Soviet border.
In addition, 73th and 206th divisions will handle the Polish partizans while we maintain total industry exploitation there.

Heeresgruppe Sud are given orders to prepare invading Yugoslavia as soon as possible.
Panzer divisions and a few infantry divisions will be commanded manually for fast(er) results.
Only the most trustworthy generals are informed of the continuation plan of heading to the Romanian oilfields.

Heeresgruppe C will continue defending the French border.
 
Since for sure we're gonna need very successful blitzing in the future, why not practice already? (although probably not necessary here)

Panzers and motorized divisions going fast into Yugoslavia after the initial breakthru at the mountaneous provinces. Some of them will head to the coast leaving an encirclement (in blue). Our infantry together with a few Italian divisions will get a chance practicing international co-operation and mopping up pockets.
