Specs: I am running CK on a Ubuntu Box trough Cedega. Athlon XF 3800, Geforce 7800, 1.5 gig RAM.

Every time the day shifts in game, I expirience a .5 second (for a lack of a better word) lag. I am just wondering if this is WAD...

I have to ask you first have you increased speed of the game? You adjust game speed by using CTRL/+ or CTRL/- keystroke, where minus and plus refer to keys on the numeric keypad. if not, Cedega might be the problem. It is after all an emulator, not a real thing. I have way slower computer than yours and game runs fine, but on Windows 2000.

I guess I know what it may be then  , gonna fool around with it abit before I deciede what it is.

It doesn't, as its not to my knowledge released in a format that supports linux at all, but Paradox's games generally don't employ a dumb DRM (that actually never works against pirates, but destroys usability for ordinary users) or other bad things (except .NET framework for EUIII and Armageddon boosters exe (altough quick workarounds are easy), so its generally easy to emulate (which is specifically why I have bought: EUII, Vicky, CK all except CK have not given me any troubles).

Personally I think that they should release a linux version (damn Direct X, damn it to hell) of their games, at least available over the net, I think that everybody should do it, and of course drop Direct X (X=crap, damn it to hell) and move to another graphics engine (OpenGL?).

My performance issues have not however prevented me from enjoying the game as I am what you can call a old school PC/console gamer and have generally rarely had enough to pay for hardware updates (still remember playing trough Red Alert on a pc from 1990 perhaps 1992 (don't know the specs on that one, sorry).

Other than that I apologize on my over use of paranthesises and poor grammar, but I am tired as hell.

It seems to me that its the 1.05 Patch that is causing the trouble, so I will try the other patches and see if those are also tormented with this.

As I thought it is something with the 1.05 patch, 1.04 runs fine, well on to the patch readme.

I know this is not comp.unix.advocacy but...

If programmers already know DirectX they will code in DirectX, they will not learn another framework unless absolutely neccessary. And it's not neccessary, as linux game would not generate any significant money for the game of CK type (or we'd have linux port), most peeps using linux, *BSD, don't wish to pay for software. If you do, that doesn't mean most do.
