Persia should be called Iran

Persia was renamed on the December 27th 1934 to Iran.

So it should be called Iran in all scenarios...is this possible to change?

Probably not officially - changes to text.csv just aren't going to happen, due to issues with publishers.

It wouldn't be very hard to mod, though...

Except that they did make changes to text.csv in 1.06; they just left the translations to fans and released the patch in English.

The standard for naming the countries, I believe, is to use what they were referred to in whatever language the game is in.

If English-speaking people were still calling the country "Persia" in the game's time period, then it should stick with the name Persia. It is by this same reasoning that Germany isn't called Deutschland, for example.

Not disputing Semi-Lobsters research [which AFAIL is accurate], allow me to weigh ni with YokoZar.

Having a number of freinds whose origins are from this region, living both in that region yet and out of it, educated both inside and outside:

- if they learned their Englich prior to about 1970, with no exception amoung the people i know, they refer to themselves as Persians and their homeland as Persia in ENGLISH conversation. [I'm sorry, but my farsi is not good enough to really recall how they refer to it in farsi, and in any case we almost always ommunicate in english as my farsi is really NOT GOOD.]

- if they learned their English after mid-80's, they all refer to themselves as Iranian and their homeland Iran.
