I'm going to write an AAR about Burgundy, I'm using:

Version: 1.09
Mod: AGCEEP (latest version I believe)
Country: Burgundy
Cheats: Money only. It's too much I know, but a you gotta do what you gotta do...also I could need someone to describe how I do to upload pictures.
EDIT: Perhaps I should tell that this is my first AAR, ever!
So, criticism is actually a good thing. Of course, some patting on the back in also welcome.

Chapter I: The First Crucial Years

1419

Dijon, duchy of Burgundy

Duke Jean I sat in his throne room and wondered about all sorts of things.
Suddenly, the door is thrown open and his general, Jean de Pressy entered.

Jean I:
- Bonjour, major general, I guess you are here to tell me the state of our glorious duchy.

- Bonjour, duke, that is right sir. We are in control of Bourgogne, Franche-Cómte and Flandern. Of course you already know this sir.

- Oui, but still, it feels good to know. So, our next move general?

- Well, we have a cause to take the city of Amiens from the french, but at this moment, they are a puppet country under us, and as long as they are obedient, we'll leave them as they are. However, it is Dauphiné that worries me.

- Yes, I know about them. But they can't seriously pose a threat to us, can they?

- Maybe not.

- Good...so what is our plan for the coming years?

- Well, I was thinking, maybe we should try to gain complete control of France.

- Sounds intriguing...how's our economy?

- Well sir...it seems that someone with huge powers *whispers* and a big hand that he uses to poke our soldiers with *endwhisper* has filled up our coffins! Rejoice, my lord duke!

Major General Jean de Pressy left the room, and duke Jean I were yet again left with his thoughts.

Antwerpen, duchy of Burgundy

The citizens in the city of Antwerpen were getting anxious.
Firstly, it wasn't common knowledge that the french had been subdued by the burgundians, and secondly, noone on the entire continent trusted the tea-drinking, scones-eating englishmen, and they had their little fortress of Calais just outside their city and province.
Something was in the air, something was about to happen.

June 17, 1419, Strasbourg
The leader of the forces in Strasbourg received a depeche, from the austrian leader, Albrecht V saying that the burgundians were preparing to assault them.
He didn't believe it.

Sommer, 1419, Strasbourg
Burgundian troops clashed with the strasbourgians on the 19th August.
They held their ground against the well-prepared forces under the command of Jean de Pressy.
But on the 27th Strasbourgs troops lost and they were forced to retreat.
In the beginning of September, Jean I, or, John the Fearless, was murdered.
Phillippe III le Bon took over command and immediatly continued the siege of Strasbourg.

1420
Less than a year after the siege started, Strasbourg fell.
In panic, the citizens tried to bribe off the invaders but to no use.
Strasbourg and the surrounding area now belongs to the ever-growing empire of Burgundy!
Phillippe III le Bon is quick to grant major general Jean de Pressy an audience with him.

Phillippe III le Bon:
- So general! I hear you have taken the city of Strasbourg.

- Oui, my lord duke. Those stupid strasbourgians never knew what hit them.

- Ehum...I have heard that the english are attacking France, is that correct?

- I'm afraid so sir.

- Well, never mind! The english are completely useless, the couldn't catch a turtle even if it jumped up and bit them in their rear.

- Sir, you wanna hear a joke?

- Sure.

- A english ship was sailing outside the german coast along with a merchant ship from Mecklenburg. Suddenly, the english ship starts to leak. The captain yells to the german ship: "We're sinking, we're sinking!" And the german captain yelled back: "What are you zinking about?".

- That...was awful, general...

Burgundy has survived the first year, good work, n00b.

to post pics, you should register and get a free account at photobucket or imageshack (i prefer photobucket = loads faster)

then take screenies during the game by pressing F11 (or better : print screen)
look up images in the agceep folder
paste or copy them to "my images"
go to photobucket website, choose files
copy IMG code (by simply clicking it)
paste code to reply-box

Hadn't it been for the 100 years war, de Pressy would have been known for his comical talents today.

Thanks for your help Wari, and also thanks for commenting on the AAR :p
This is, as I said myself, my first AAR so I REALLY want people to comment, I was afraid I wasn't even gotta get a "b-13-post" = "yu suxx!!!!"

30 minutes later

After finally dismissing de Pressy (his jokes were NOT good!) the duke takes out a map and looks at his duchy.
BurgundiAAR1st.jpg

Even though it doesn't necessarily look good, it looks better than before.

- What should I do now? Phillippe asked himself. France sure does look tempting, but those damn Dauphinés...I hate them! All of them! With their stupid striped shirts and their baguettes...or was that the French? Never mind!

Dijon, duchy of Burgundy
November 20th, 1420

Jean de Pressy is busy with the war against Strasbourgs ally, Tyrol, but he is planning an assault against their fort in the province of Baden.
In Dijon, Phillippe receives an important depeche.
The messenger jumps off his horse and rushes into the throne room.

- My lord! Sir! My duke!

- Calm down, monsieur, what is the matter with you?

- Sir, we have received a request from the filthy moslems of Morocco! They want to sign a trade treaty with us.
BurgundiAAR2nd.jpg

- Indeed they do? Hmm...Morocco...
For the next 5 minutes, the messenger can't make contact with the duke.

- I have made up my mind! We are going for Morocco! Keep on rockin' in the free world!!

- B-but my lord...

- Quiet you, or your head is gonna roll.

- *Mumbles* Regicide doesn't look so bad actually...*endmumble*

- What's that?

- Nothing sir.

- *Talking to himself* A trade treaty they want eh? Well I'm gonna give 'em something entirely different.

Strasbourg, duchy of Burgundy
November 25th

Jean de Pressy has just gotten the orders.
He is to end the war with Tyrol as quickly as possible (but gaining a province is never bad), and then return to Dijon.
There, he and Phillippe will make up plans for the invasion of Dapuhiné to get a port so they can sail to north Africa.

- Is our beloved duke going mad, general? a private asked.

- I don't think so, lad.

- But...Morocco?

- Son, you know what the friend of Gods son Brian said:
"Always look on the bright side of life" he said. Let's do just that.

I hope I don't offend any moslems or christians/catholics/lutherans/orthodoxians/mormons with this.

Anyway, today, Saturday and tomorrow Sunday I won't be giving an update here since I'm going on a student-cruise (or whatever it's called in english).

No one on these forums says that some aars would suck.
That makes these forums so neat.
The mods patrol everywhere.

I love that old joke, 'what are you singing 'bout'?

Great aar I say!

And don't worry, people still visit eu2 forums. (sometimes...)

And don't worry, the meaning of this post was not to celebrate my 8000th post. I just like your aar. :)

Wonderful news indeed :)
And now I am back, after being relentlessly drunk on a ship (as it should be), and after 6 hours of sleep in almost 3 days, it is now time for me to go to bed.
But tomorrow begins my Easter break, so an update will probably come tomorrow.

Sorry 'bout this, but that boattrip must have made me sick :(
I'm almost lying unconscious in my bed (luckily for me it's Easter break), but PROBABLY an update will arrive tomorrow...can't promise anything though, so I apoligize to my two readers xD And hope they have the patience to wait...okey, maybe I went a bit overboard their, actually I was so tired that I almost couldn't get ut of bed xD

1420-1430
Invasion of Africa?

1420-1421
Phillippe was trying to diplomatically convince the dauphinés to surrender some provinces to Burgundy so that they could launch their invasion of Morocco.
But the dauphiné were'nt stupid, Phillippe tried desperatly to find a reason for invading Dauphiné and then, he got that reason.
On the burgundian border, dauphiné soldiers were seen cumming in Dijon-wine, which of course under normal circumstances is very, very wrong, but now, it fit right into Phillippes plan, now he only had to wait for de Pressy.
And on 21st of September 1421, Tyrol begged for peace, surrendering 25 ducats, maybe not that much, but Phillippe wanted peace with them.
He immediatly called for de Pressy as soon as he came back to Dijon.

February 13th, Dijon, duchy of Burgundy
Phillippe:
- So, my dear general, my dear friend, you have defeated Tyrol I heard.

- Oui, my lord duke. They were easy.

- I'm glad you think so, now we shall attack Dauphiné.

- ...Don't tell me you're serious about this invasion of Morocco thing?

- Oh, I'm dead serious, and you'll be that to, dead anyway, if you don't suceed in taking at least one coastal province from Dauphiné.

November 14th, 1422
War was declared upon Dauphiné.
Burgundys allies, Cleves, Brabant and Lorraine also answered the call.
However, as de Pressy was besieging Lyon, on the 7th of March, the royal guard in Dijon was beaten by a large Dauphiné army, and the capital is now under siege.
However, a new army was quickly raised and rushed to the defence of Dijon.
This was at the 23rd of July.
BurgindiaAAR3rd.jpg

On the 5th of August the dauphiné army was routed, and just days after Lyon was captured.
BurgundiAAR4th.jpg

However, September 24th (the same day that de Pressy started the siege of Grenoble) brought bad news to the duke.
Dauphiné controlled no ports in the Mediterrean!
Phillippe was really confused by this fact, but he decided to make these dauphiné provinces burgundian so he could then start looking for a port there.

And then...a wonderful thing happened! Charles VI died, and Phillippe took the opportunity to deny Dauphiné any right to the french lands.
BurgundiAAR5th.jpg

However, only the province of Champagne went into Burgundian care, but this was enough.

Phillippe:

- Depeche! Send a message to de Pressy, tell him to end the war with Dauphiné as quickly as possible...we are hereby concentrating our war efforts to the north.

And on january 27th, 1423, Burgundy accepted peace with Dauphiné.
And from them, there was peace in the duchy until the 1430's, but in Champagne, rebels started to go on with their dirty business, since Phillippe more or less stole that province from the Dauphiné.

Note to Phillippe: Duke, on January 6th 1425, we gained the province of Artois due to our support to the Luxembourgh house.
Note to Phillippe: Duke, April 19th, 1427. We have gained two lowlands provinces.
BurgundiAAR6th.jpg

What will happen next?
Has Phillippe really abandoned his claims on Morocco?
Here's where you step in :)
I have a bad imagination, so I want YOU to decide what Phillippe will do next.
Will he change his mind again and start the crusade against Morocco?
Will he expand into Germany?
Will he go north?
Or will he perhaps just sit back and relax, well, you decide.
On April 14th I will count the votes (shouldn't take to long), and then make the story go to that direction.
And please, use your imagination, everything you can come up with.

Mind you, I will play this until 1477, when the successor of Phillippe III le Bon dies, so...no WC's :D

I think it would be wise to secure your western flank by vassalizing France and England. Then get that mediterranean port, preferably by letting one of your vassals annex Provence, right before diplo-annexing your vassal.

Then Morocco... But maybe better thouroughly beat Spain and Portugal first, just to be on the sure side. Don't vassalize them, so you can visit the library from time to time.

O, and you should play further, after Phillippe dies, that's when the fun starts for Burgundy. :p

So...

Expand into France first = III

Expand into Marocco first =

Expand into Germany first = I

Expand into Spain and/or Italy = I

Relax = I

Profit = I

:D
If you have more options, keep 'em coming.
It seems like an easy win for option 1 so far, but lots can happen :)
Also it seems like I should first beat the **** of Dauphiné (which now is France), and then into Germany...hmm...we'll see.

i want to switch my vote to : relax
just kick back for a while, take a beer out of the fridge, let the AI go crazy for a while. Then get some big bully as a friend and clean up the mess.

Actually, i find, playing Burgundy, if you want a relaxed game, allying France is the thing to do. I know i know, France is there to be destroyed, or otherwise assimilated. Or to be cut into tiny little powerless pieces with vassal status. And it will cost you tons of money to keep relations high.
But still there might be joy in it.

Maybe you should trigger the "Crown of Lotharingia" event, if it's there. You can also try to save and reload a zillion times, but it's not guaranteed to trigger - i believe it's in the event file for HAB. Getting those, abn afterwards changing into France is pure core-fest.

O, and you should play further, after Phillippe dies, that's when the fun starts for Burgundy. :p

Maybe, we'll see :) I'm not really a fan of AAR's that spans 30 pages
Only if it is an AAR about Sweden.

Okey, looks like the votes are made. Phillippe shall focus his aims inwards against the dauphinés and the english.
And now, with our shiny, new dutch provinces, beating England and France will be easy :)
Update coming tomorrow.
