1420-1430
Invasion of Africa?
1420-1421
Phillippe was trying to diplomatically convince the dauphinés to surrender some provinces to Burgundy so that they could launch their invasion of Morocco.
But the dauphiné were'nt stupid, Phillippe tried desperatly to find a reason for invading Dauphiné and then, he got that reason.
On the burgundian border, dauphiné soldiers were seen cumming in Dijon-wine, which of course under normal circumstances is very, very wrong, but now, it fit right into Phillippes plan, now he only had to wait for de Pressy.
And on 21st of September 1421, Tyrol begged for peace, surrendering 25 ducats, maybe not that much, but Phillippe wanted peace with them.
He immediatly called for de Pressy as soon as he came back to Dijon.
February 13th, Dijon, duchy of Burgundy
Phillippe:
- So, my dear general, my dear friend, you have defeated Tyrol I heard.
- Oui, my lord duke. They were easy.
- I'm glad you think so, now we shall attack Dauphiné.
- ...Don't tell me you're serious about this invasion of Morocco thing?
- Oh, I'm dead serious, and you'll be that to, dead anyway, if you don't suceed in taking at least one coastal province from Dauphiné.
November 14th, 1422
War was declared upon Dauphiné.
Burgundys allies, Cleves, Brabant and Lorraine also answered the call.
However, as de Pressy was besieging Lyon, on the 7th of March, the royal guard in Dijon was beaten by a large Dauphiné army, and the capital is now under siege.
However, a new army was quickly raised and rushed to the defence of Dijon.
This was at the 23rd of July.
On the 5th of August the dauphiné army was routed, and just days after Lyon was captured.
However, September 24th (the same day that de Pressy started the siege of Grenoble) brought bad news to the duke.
Dauphiné controlled no ports in the Mediterrean!
Phillippe was really confused by this fact, but he decided to make these dauphiné provinces burgundian so he could then start looking for a port there.
And then...a wonderful thing happened! Charles VI died, and Phillippe took the opportunity to deny Dauphiné any right to the french lands.
However, only the province of Champagne went into Burgundian care, but this was enough.
Phillippe:
- Depeche! Send a message to de Pressy, tell him to end the war with Dauphiné as quickly as possible...we are hereby concentrating our war efforts to the north.
