Hi all! I haven't been able to find any answers relating to this question, and since EU4 is going to be free to keep on Epic Games next week I was wondering if it is possible to play between Epic and Steam on multiplayer? I want to get a few friends into the game, and since I own most of the DLCs I can play with them to teach and enhance their experience, but only if it can actually be played across the two platforms. As such, can it be played in that manner? If so, how? We tried once before when they got the XBox game pass on a heavy discount for like a week, but we didn't manage to figure out how to connect, and I'm not sure if it was just not possible of if we just failed in trying to connect out of sheer bad luck.

Any help figuring this out is appreciated. If he question has been asked before, I apologize.

If you choose the Nakama option at game start then all editions ought to be able to play MP together, yes.

Hey Andrew,
how exactly can we choose the nakama option?
Thanks in advance.
If you start eu4 form the library within the steam client, you get an extra dialog which lets you choose between the nakama and steam multiplayer backends.

Disclaimer: I'm not working for Paradox. I'm just trying to help people.

Hey, could you explain in more detail where exactly and which file? I cannot find it
I'm not taking about a file. The steam client is the normal steam desktop application which you need to play the steam version of the game. It has a section called "Library" which lists all your games. If you click on eu4 there you can see details of eu4 and there is also a green "Play" button near the top. If you click that play button which has as third option "Nakama crossplatform multiplayer". You have to select that and click "Play" in that dialog.

I have the Epic Games version of EU4 and I wanted to know how I can invite non-Epic users to my game. I can invite Epic users by adding them as a friend and then inviting them to my game but I cannot see what the link to my game is. I would really appreciate any help on how to get the invite link to my hosted server and then sending it to other people to enable them to join me.

I don't know if there is a way to invite them, but you can copy the server id to your clipboard by clicking on the version number in the upper right corner of the screen. And then you can share the server id to the other players via other communication channels and they can use the "connect to id" button and enter/paste the server id there.

Oooooooohhhhh thank you thank you thank you! I didn't know where people get the server ids from. Thanks so much!

I am not pretty sure you can do that. If you want to connect with your friends and play online, you all have to use the same platform.
It is definitely possible to play eu4 with people from other platforms as long as you use the nakama crossplay multiplayer
