Ive been thinking about a way to distribute cores temporarily to emulate history better. Or atleast, guide (or undo) some of the weirder actions (and events) countries take (and get). The applications I have been thinking about is the region of the Balkans.

The Ottomans get some events which emulate their expansion relatively well, but after the battle of Vienna (or then about) there is no real corresponding events for most Europeans. The other application I have in mind is the back and forth of North American and Carribbean colonies.

My idea in the Balkans.
note: I play AGCEEP MyMap, so there are more provinces and countries to work with. Sadly, huge BB ratings come about if you arent Austria and go on a crusade in the balkans.

Step 1, Ottoman event:
If the Ottomans control several key territories in the Balkans and are big enough (ie, they own substantial European territory), generic Turko-European tensions arise for neighbouring and hateful European countries.

An Event for further Turkish expansion into Europe (there are several that can be modified, or create a short new one) will spark turko-European hostilities events (Step 2) for several Euro nations.

These turko-European hostility events are for each country traditionally hostile to the Turks and did (or could have) taken territory from the Ottomans, such as Austria, Bohemia, Poland, Lithuania, Russia, Romania, Wallachia.. others? (these are the anti-turks).

Other powers that ocationally intervened, like Spain, France (others?) get a step 2 event ONLY

Step 2, Euro event:
triggers:
- Christian,
- neighbour = TUR OR relations with TUR NOT higher then 50,
- NOT vassal of TUR.

action_a: "we should do something!"
get a causus belli against TUR, 2 year duration
flag = 'turkotension'

action_b: "not our concern"
do nothing, relations with TUR +25, stability +1

(for some nations, like Spain, France, some German minors, etc.. actions a and b should be reversed)

Step 3, Euro events:
triggers are:
- War with TUR
- flag = turkotension
startdate = same as TUR step 1 event
offset = 90
death date = 3 years after start.

action_a: "We are at war!" (well duh!)
stability +1
flag = balkanclaims
Triggers Step 4 events

Step 4, "temporary core" events:

Each anti-turk country gets an event for each provinces in the Balkans that: they do not have a core on;
could have been owned by the Ottomans;
were/could have been taken from the Ottomans (like the Austrians did).

Those provinces would be from Serbia in the south West, to Wallahia/Bulgaria in the South East, North eastern Italy in the North West and dyrka/jedisan in the North East. For Russia, Poland and Lithuania I believe it should be expanded to include potential Ottoman provinces of Kaffa/Doros.

Though there are many step 4 events (several provinces x several countries), they are rather short:
They are sparked by a step 3 event.

Triggers: owned by TUR

actions_a: "we shall liberate these lands in the name of Christendom!"
gain core on that province.

(I purposefully leave out if the province is still christian, as "christendom" rarely cared about the actual religious beliefs of the inhabitants)

Step 5, "end of temporary core" events:
triggers are:
- NOT War with TUR
- flag = balkanclaims
startdate = 7 years after TUR step 1 event
offset = 5 years
death date = 22 years after TUR step 1 event.

desc = "we have liberated these lands from the Turks, but truely we have no real claim to them either"

actions_a: "now what to do ?"
sleep step 6 event
remove cores from all possible provinces that this country could have gotten from their step 4 event.
(care must be given to countries like Austria, Hungry, etc that already have cores in the Balkans)

Step 6, "just in case" event
Just in case some country goes on and on fighting the Turks trying to keep the core claims.

triggers are:
- flag = balkanclaims
startdate = 27 years after TUR step 1 event

desc = "we have been unable to seize these lands. Our once noble claim to them is no longer believed by any one. Not even our soldiers. "

actions_a: "now what to do ?"
remove cores from all possible provinces that this country could have gotten from their step 4 event.
(care must be given to countries like Austria, Hungry, etc that already have cores in the Balkans)
