Posting this here in addition to the bugs forum in the hope that it gets seen...

Hi,
I just got the game, and I'm new to this whole series and forum, etc., so forgive me if this topic has been broached before. I searched for it and couldn't find anything similar, so I'm going to post in the hopes that someone can help me.

Basically, I'm having a big problem with the diplomatic model in the game. When I attempt to declare war on someone, I'm unable to do so. This has happened repeatedly in the grand campaign. I tried playing as Scotland, and had permanent CB against England. So I tried to declare war on England, only for the game to tell me I was declaring war on France. I checked relations and England was actually at war with France, which would mean an alliance wasn't being called into play. No matter where I clicked, on any country, it told me I was declaring war on France.

So I started a new game and tried again. This time, when I tried to declare war, I got the message "You are about to declare war on Scotland." How the heck am I going to declare war on myself? I tried this with several different countries, and was never actually able to declare war on the correct country once.

I'm playing version 1.03 of the game on Windows 98, with a Pentium III 450 and 128 MB of RAM. My graphics card is a Diamond Viper Ultra TNT 2, which I think is above the minimum spec. I tried reinstalling DirectX, to no avail. If anyone has seen this before, or hopefully has some solution for me, please drop me a line here or at adams@ugo.com

Many thanks,
adam
