I know that CiM2 has long been abandoned but I still think it's a bit embarrassing for both Colossal Order and Paradox what state the game is in. I don't expect any gameplay bugfixes, just that they keep the game working and available. It took years for the workshop to get fixed, multiplayer needs some workarounds to get running and worst of all the game isn't fully available any more.

I know Paradox's general DLC policy but why can't they at least release a full complete edition for their finished games? If I wish I can easily buy complete editions of sims of similar age to CiM2 like Tropico 4 and 5 at official stores at good discounts. In the case of CiM2 the 'collection' available in shops only contains 7 DLCs. The rest I'd have to hunt down individually. On Steam I could buy all (except for one) in one go but sales are rare there and DLC never go below 50% off (60% off for the bundle). I just don't understand that if they are willing to give away the base game (and the European Cities DLC) in dollar bundles then why they neglect to entice newly reached people into buying the DLC.

At last I'd like to mention the main reason for this post. There is content for the game that is currently totally unavailable. To my understanding the content of the pre-order bonus (called Modern Collection DLC) was later available in the in-game store. But that is now closed so there is no way to get access to those vehicles, stop types and landmarks any more. If I want to play with those am I suppossed to invent a time machine?
