Frequently asked this question, should be stickied somewhere. Under the hood of most paradox games is the potential for a mac version. Can't for the life of me think why they would allow a mac version though. Kinda ruins the feel of a pc strategy game. Your idea is interesting though, i suppose its just a cost issue these days. Or not, either way i'm not really sure mac users will be hard done by with EUIV. Understand your concerns though.

Errr, I don't understand it, an iMac IS a PC...

I don't really see how creating a Mac version of the game would ruin the feel of it - it's not like a Mac is a console, it's merely a different PC operating system. You're literally just creating a Mac-compatible wrapper or converting the PC-related bits (such as DirectX) to their Mac equivalents.
And I wouldn't say that the potential is "under the hood" as it is "at the pleasure of Virtual Programming (or Valve)". Most of Paradox's more recent products are already available under the Steam Play format. Virtual Programming is a company that Paradox contracts the Mac versions out to. Generally it takes a few weeks or months for a new expansion to be transferred, but Steam Play has made it a lot faster it seems.
And based on the precedent they've established with CK2 and Victoria 2's releases, EU4 will be converted soon after release. But as Leonaru has said - EU3 is already out, as are all of Paradox's other grand strategy products.

I believe as of CK2 paradox is now doing the mac version in house.

I think this is correct, that from CK2 and onwards there is an ambition to make in-house mac versions of new PDS titles. As a long time mac-user I'm very happy about this, to no longer have to reboot into a bootcamped Windows every time I want to do some serious gaming.

Wait a second, does steam got the Mac versions on it?

Steam only has EU3 through the In Nomine expansion for MacOS. The last two expansions are not available for MacOS through Steam. They are available from other distributors (as the link posted above).

Win8 is scaring game manufacturers (its not really that suitable for desktops, and gamers aren't likely to migrate to low powered windows tablets - for a number of reasons). So I'd expect a lot more mac compatable games in the future.

Johan confirmed there will be a Mac version of EU4.
