I'm in the middle of trying to make alterations to the duel engine with the purpose of giving primary and secondary characters 'plot armour', the reason being i'm sick of the young wolf getting killed off in his first battle by some "lesser lords younger brothers son" from a generic dynasty . Anyway I have made the trait and i'm testing it - to no avail , so I was wondering If someone could tell me what I have done wrong. After looking at the duel engine, it appeared that the engine compared the 'stats' (traits, which are given a numeric factor) of the duelists and whoever had the higher score had a better chance of being the rounds victor. I added the two plot armour traits, 'Heavy plot armour' (factor = 12, the same as the formidable fighter trait) and 'light plot armour' (factor = 9, same as the skilled fighter trait) to the 2 sections in which the event chain counts the traits factors. I'm not sure what I have/haven't done for this not to work so can someone with mod experience or who is familiar with the event chain share some of their godly knowledge to a lesser being such as myself?

I did, and seeming I haven't implemented a way to have the characters receive the trait yet I had to to use the console to add them I guess the game is recognizing that they exist. What's wrong is that the having the plot armour trait should give a bonus in single combat equivalent to the 'Formidable fighter' and 'Skilled fighter' traits, to help stop generic courtiers and unimportant characters from slaying the major ones in single combat.

Go through the history files and manually give the characters you want to have the trait the trait. I might recommend making the icon for the trait blank, so that it doesn't distract anyone for whatever reason.

Thanks for the suggestion, that is a good idea, however it is the fact that the trait doesn't seem to have affected the chances in the duel engine at all that's bothering me.

Just a note to remember that it's still about chance, I've had a formiddable, strong, genius warrior get killed by trained cowards and the like (yes I was savescumming because I was so happy to get him and he just kept dying...). It may be that the traits need to be even stronger if they're just getting unlucky.
