Ha ha! Very short-lived game, but I gave the Germans some fierce resistance!
On January 1936, the Government knew Germany's aggressiveness was to reach Poland at some point. Propaganda filled the streets, as Poland begged their citizens to be recruited for the army. Manpower was short, however, and only 32 divisions were created by 1939. Igor Putenzki, Leading Scientist for the Polish R&D, recounted his years as a scientist "stressful" and "ridiculous". "My team was forced to, day and night, find out new ways to expand our tank's armament calibres, or how to find that new rifle that was automatic, but as accurate as our service rifles -- such things that our armed forces take for granted today". Poland was actually the first to discover such things as nuclear reactor capabilities, and was on the verge of discovering the first assault rifle when they were invaded by Germany. A huge industrial boom occured in 1937, as Industrial Capacity was up to 600. Many tanks were rolling off production lines, and the nation was as prosperous as ever. Germany was showing signs of concern with Western Europe, rather than Eastern, giving them time to continue building up their army. The Generals and troops were green. They needed to be battle hardened.
By March 1939, Polish patriotism was up at outragous levels. All it needed was a spark. A Lithuianian spy was spotted attempting to steal Polish battle plans, and was executed. The President officially declared war on Lithuiania on March 24th, 1939, 1:00 AM. Lithuiania abandoned Memel, the province with the higest population, to Germany. Poland conquered Lithuania on March 29th, 1939. England gave out it's hand for an alliance with Poland the next day, and Poland declined, wanting to stay on German's good side. Poland then went on a Northern sweep, and declared war on Latvia on April 4th, 1939. Latvia was annexed on May 10th, 1939. Meanwhile, Germany was beginning the Blitzkrieg on Western Europe, with Luxembourg annexed on the 9th of April. To finish Poland's occupation of the Baltic States, they declared war upon Estonia on the same time Latvia was annexed. Latvia was annexed on May 13th, 1939.
Polish Empire, May 1939:
Two months later, there was a large force protecting Polish borders, but the German army still looked superior to them.
Polish Border, August 1939:
Germany extorted Danzig out of Poland on the eve of September, allowing their armies to surround Poland. Taking his word away, Hitler declared war on Poland two days later. There was no chance of victory, but Germany's forces was delayed for Three months before reaching the outskirts of Wilno.
