Poland - From the Gates of KrAARkow to the Edge of The World (1453 - 1473 -savecrash)

Poland – From the Gates of KrAARkow to the Edge of the World
(1453 – ongoing)

The stage is set, for one of the most epic histories ever told. The playing field is Europe, Eastern Europe to be exact, but not limiting to that. Eventually the playing fields going to get a lot bigger, for you see –

Eh, get on with it. Seriously…

Right, yes sorry about that… And it is a playing field ripe for the taking. Our focus; the young budding Kingdom of Poland – What now?

It’s actually a Commonwealth of sorts. If you had been a better historian, you’d have noticed that. Its two countries ruled by one monarch with completely separate ruling class, and two separate armies –

Listen, who the hell is the narrator anyways?

Good; now piss off… Where was I…Oh right…

Our focus is the young budding Commonwealth of Poland-Lithuania. Two separate nations, ruled by one common Monarch: King Kazimierz the Fifth. His rule started in the 1440’s –

1444 to be exact is when –

Ok, you’re really testing me now. Just piss off or I’ll do a god damn narrative on how Switzerland didn’t conquer a goddamn thing, and no one will hear this god damn story!

His rule started in 1444, but for the first part of King Kazimierz’s rule not much was done…Don’t even think about it…And so our history starts off on January 1st, 1453 the year of our Lord, 9 years after King Kazimierz the Fifth ascended to the throne.

It was a cold January morning in Krakow; the King had called his war council to its chamber and meeting room; The War Councils Chamber and Meeting Room. Inside the room, the King sat with no advisors. At all. At this time there were not enough ducats in the treasury to attract members to the court. Well they were there, but the king was just being a stingy old man.

So Kazimierz sat, maps of Europe sprawled out in front of him. To his east was Lithuania, he had yet to even go there in his 9 years on the throne. He thought it was quite a barbaric place; on its eastern borders lied the partially-retarded race of mountain apes classified by the greatest thinking minds in Poland as the Muscovites, with their strangely similar language, but awkwardly different customs. To its south were the barbaric Crimean Turks, not much spoken of. They regularly referred to themselves as moose-lambs, and Kazimierz felt this was really strange. As most Europeans had yet to even know what a moose was (Canada was not around yet), and surely lambs did not speak. This being as it were, he rarely felt the need to leave his castle in Krakow, and venture to Lithuania unless there was a really, really good reason. Like a brothel with fresh virgins, or some rebels to crush with uncompromising force, and unmatched disdain for human suffering.

To his West lie Bohemia, and their vassals the disgusting Silesia. These half-breeds (as he referred to them) were some sort of strange mix between a good Polish peasant and a drunk mountain ape. He was also informed that his family once owned land in Lausitz, how convenient; a reason for war. But these were secondary aims, to his north lied more important exploits; the Teutons. What the hell they were doing on the coast was beyond Kazimierz. And why the hell they called the town “Dancing” was even further beyond his grasp. To him it was always Gdansk, even if everyone there thought it was something else. Either way, a plan was set in motion in old Kazimierz’s mind, a plan to crush the Teutons.

A great army was amassed. To be correct, it was a great 3 armies; One that he would lead, dubbed “Pierwsza Armia Krowleska”. One to be led by his trusted childhood friend, Zygmunt Chometowski, dubbed “Druga Armia Krolewska”. And one to be led by a less then stellar general named Nol Eedar, dubbed just “3rd Army”.

Kazimierz would lead the cavalry corps. Their first move would be a thrust into Danzig, and then; feign into Warmia to cut off any retreating Teuton scum. Once this was achieved, the armies of Chometowski (whom Kazimierz dubbed “homie”), and Eedar (whom Kazimierz dubbed “you goddamned moron”) would march into Danzig and Warmia, besiege the cities, and burn everyone inside to a smoking pile of ash. From there the cavalry would ride forth into Oustprussen, Memel, and Kurland, doing battle with any resistance it found on the way. The other two armies would follow in its wake and capture the cities on the way…

next one will have proper screens of everything going on. Here is the set up, and teaser. I've about 14 or 15 years of play time to write up, and it should be good!

Cool! A Poland AAR. I was thinking about doing one, but now I don't have to.

And there really is no better way to start a Poland AAR than by teaching that silly Teutonic Order a lesson. Go get 'em!

The Great (however short) Polish Conquest's Under Kazimierz I

And so the war was planned, the three great armies of the Polish King amassed at Plock, and Kalisz. It was the middle of may when the glorious Polish King, Kazimierz I ordered the attack on the Two-tons. The whole country was pleasantly surprised by this news! Nothing could be better then sending their first born sons away to die for the Kings inexplainable land-grabs!

Kazimierz was very pleased with the current situation, so much so, that his excitement granted him great cunning in his first battle. His cavalry army consisting of 4000 horses slammed into Danzig, the Two-tons were caught with their pants down! Literally! He attacked at morning! The army of the Grand-Marshall was humiliated at Danzig, and the prisoners of war, burned with the villagers, the former inhabitants of plundered villages on the way to the port city.

The victory, however, was short lived. It had at this time come to the Kings attention that the Two-Tons actually had allies. Weird...

'Homie', the leader of the Kings second glorious army approached Kazimierz on the battlefield.

"My great and honorable Liege, King of Poland; conqueror of Dancing; slayer of the pants down, I cannot commence the siege of Dancing, for my scouts report that the Allies of the Two-tons; the despicable Hinterpomern, march against us!"

The King looked displeased, and rather confused

"The Who-in-my-pomegrante? What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

"Hinterpomern sir, just west of us; on the coast", replied Homie, looking quite distressed.

Kazimierz looked at his map, turning it, and twisting it, his face contorting with confusion and disgust.

"Thats West you say? I thought that was East...Oh well, it matters not anymore, Homie. Crush them. Crush them and set their civilization back 1000 years!"

"We cant really do that sir, our tech level is by default 0 at the start of a campaign so the most we could-"

"Just go kill them, fool. I don't have time for this. Wheres that other general of ours?"

General Nol Eedar rode up at this very moment to announce his army was expecting their arms to arrive from Krakow any day now.

"What do you mean? I don't care if you don't have any legs, get in that castle by the end of the month, you goddamned moron!" bellowed Kazimierz upon hearing this nonsense of his great armies marching around Poland with no arms. Absurd.

And so his great cavalry army left its position in Dancing, and rode to Warmia (where they soon learned that his allies Mazovia had already beaten the Two-tons here, and so he rode into Oustprussen instead, where to his dismay he had discovered the exact same had happened (he noted mentally to eventually vassalize this moronic country and diplo-annex them)). While Nol Eedar besieged Dancing, Homie rode into Hinterpomern. Resistance here was limited, to almost none. Besides the first army of 1000 Germans, the only thing standing between conquest of the Coast was a castle, and villages of peasants to slaughter.

The war with the Two Tons lasted many a year. Lithuania's forces, although slightly handicapped, and Mazovias, although slightly annoying in some of their surprise conquests (like Riga...!?), fought delligentaly, and competantly. Though not as competantly as Kazimierz's. In a few short months, the Hinterpomerns were conquered and peace was signed. Hinterpomern ceded Vorpomern, and became vassals of the crown of Poland. Kazimierz was from then known as Kazimierz I; King of Poland; Duke of Pomerania. And he was a happy King indeed.

At this time, Homie resumed his role in the Two-Ton war, taking up the slack. Progress was swift, and without mercy. All along the coast, castle by castle, Kazimierz's forces carved a path of destruction, and desolation. It was then that he suffered his first upset: Mazovia, and Lithuania pulled out of the war. Mazovia took Warmia, leaving Oustprussen, and Riga to the Order. And Lithuania took Wendan. The kings armies in Livland and Estonia had to frist double back to Oustprussen, andRiga, to conquer them, before resuming their conquest in the North East.

In November 1457, 2 years after the war started, the Two-tons were completely and utterly defeated. Except for Osel. The Polish engineers and shipwrights could not figure out how to build a ship in Vorpomern, and the conquest of this island was held off. Nevertheless, the King added Danzig, Memel, Livland, Estland, and Riga to his list of conquests.

In the country there would be a year, a whole year of peace. In this time, free-thinkers and pseudo-human-rights-protesting-types would rise up in Podolia. The king would rejoice much in crushing these mentally, and physically inferior rebels. He lavished in his victory and made an official decree that anyone else, who even so much as spoke of rebelling, would be hanged; drawn and quartered; manufactured into fish cans and sold on the world trade market.

At this point Kazimierz was known as; the King of Poland; Duke of Pomerania, and Prussia; conqueror of Dancing, and the Two-tons; victor of the Great Eastern War.

At this point in history, his lust for conquests was unsatiable. After the year of peace, Kazimierz; the King of Poland; Duke of Pomerania, and Prussia; conqueror of Dancing, and the Two-tons; victor of the Great Eastern War, took his newly resupplied armies and invaded Bohemia, and Silesia full force. The conquest was quick, short and swift. Silesia annexed, and Bohemia reduced to a one province Vassal. During this war, the King chased the Panzies of Prague (as he called them) throughout the Austrian country side. Much to the pleasure of the Austrian king (who shared this opinion of the Bohemians). This war would come to end in 1460, leading to two more years of peace for Poland, and its unsuspecting Neighbors.

In 1462, however, a stroke of luck occurred! Perpetuated by years of distrust, the Two-tons declared war on Mazovia! The King took uo this opportunity with great excitement, and crushed them once and for all. This time having built a single transport, the king managed to besiege Osel. It was quickly added to his realm, and the Two-tons made Vassals. The king dubbed them the Half-tons. This nickname never quite took, and most all people still called them the Two-tons. The other battles of this war involved the Two-tons allies; Brew-Men, and Monster. But no conquests were made, and these barbaric civilizations were allowed to walk with their freedoms, even though Annexation was an option. Kazimierz was known in this period as; the King of Poland, and Bohemia; Grandmaster of the Two-tons; Duke of Pomerania, and Prussia; victor of the Great Eastern, and The Not-so-Great Western War's; subduer of the Panzies of Prague; the Pacifier of the Half-tons; and the Slightly-but-not-so-much-Merciful.

Poland would enter the longest of its peaces at this time. From the conclusion of this war, in 1463, until 1468, nothing would happen. It was in 1468, only 24 years after taking the throne the Great Kazimierz I; the King of Poland, and Bohemia; G.T; D.Po.Pr.; V.Ge.NsgWW; SPP; PH;The Merciful (as it was abreviated too, to save parchment, which was a very expensive commodity), would die. He would die being recognized in Europe as a great millitary mind, albeit slightly demented in his practices. This period of time would see the rule of Henryk I, and, because of marital arrangements from the start of his predecessors rule, the inclusion of Lithuania into the Kingdom. What a nasty surprise! The King would now have no choice but to be in contact with those nasty Muscovite apes at least once in his lifetime; to declare war.

From here, Poland would see a further 2 years of peace. In 1970, Henryk would put forth a plan to surpass his predecessor in conquests! He quickly invaded Brandenburg. His armies invaded Neumark, and conquered it swiftly, however the tide of this war would soon turn. In 1971 the Holy Roman Emperor, the King of Bavaria, would declare war. This drew his Allies Saxony, and Wurmburger into the fold. The Polish king was in a fortuitous position, however. As Saxony sent its only army into Lausitz, the King having recently signed peace with Brandenburg (them ceding Newmark), withdrew his armies into Saxony, completely unchallenged. The two armies rampaged through Saxony'ss inferior defences, and by the new year, they were sending wishes to the Roman Emperor. Wishes in the form of flaming arrows. In the middle of 1472, Saxony would aggree to a humiliating peace; Vassalation, and ceding all her provinces, save her capitol, to Poland. By January of 1473, Bavaria would be completely in control of Poland. It was then that the world ceased to exist. On precisely February 26th, 1473 the game will boot to desktop, no matter what is done, and no matter whether the user boots from the autosave, or a save from a few years back, compeltely avoiding the war with Brandenburg.

Kind of dissapointing for my first AAR. I'm going to try one again, from the same time period, meanwhile I'll try and see about fixing this one. The game always crashes on this date, regardless of speed, anything. Programs in the back. Nothing sops it from crashing.
