Is Poland supposed to be allied with the UK via event?

No - Poland is not allied by event. After the end of Czechoslovakia (assuming things go to a historical plan) in March 1939 or so, you should get the annexation of Memel by Germany, and then the UK & France should offer Poland a Guarantee of Independence. When Germany attacks Poland in September, then the effect of the Guarantee should be that the UK (and therefore the rest of the Allies) declares war on Germany, much as happened historically.

I've never taken Poland without the Allies DoWing by Sept. 4. Is it possible that something ahistorical happened with the GoI event?
