In a game as Texas (VIP, though I don't think this matters), I tried to edit the TEX_party.csv file in Open Office Calc to change the Radical Party from a third party to a major party (because they have full citizenship, and Texas really needs that). However, when I do that, all the pre-1860 parties disappear, and I can't figure out why.

Also, I tried to edit the CSA's "Have we sacrificed too much?" event to make the AI only surrender 30% of the time when that happens, but they still do it 100% of the time.

ETA: I just realized that you can open those files in Notepad, instead. Is that the problem, opening it in Open Office Calc? (I'll test it when I have time.)

In my experience the problem you get in OO Calc is that when you save the .csv-file you get extra "-s that weren't there to begin with. This makes the file unreadable for the game. The simple solution is to open the file in text editor afterwards and do a search&replace for the "-marks.
