So I have a not-so-new MacBook Pro and the game runs... poorly. I'm aware of the stuttering issues, but this can be observed on the country selection map, so no time is ticking here.
I can run EU4 and HOI4 butterly smooth on high settings on speed 5. I realize Imperator is newer than both of those, but come on, at the end of the day, it's still a map (a gorgeous map, mind you, but still). I find it hard to believe that the performance difference could be that big. I suspect the bottleneck to be the GPU (NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M). I do not expect being able to play the game on max settings or anything, but that's part of what I find interesting - the difference between high and low presets is minimal - the game slow on the lowest of low settings too. The only thing that makes the map usable is turning down the resolution all the way to 640x480 and that I do not find acceptable. The fact that the lowest settings still include the nice water and all the fog and clouds surely doesn't help, either.
In another thread, it has been suggested that the game might run somewhat even on integrated GPU - specifically that if CK2 and EU4 are playable, Imperator might be, too.
This all leads me to believe that something is wrong - any help would be appreciated.
