One thing I hope for is a rudimentary POP system, rather than just the vague concept of "manpower". Now, this would of course be much simpler than Victoria 2's, but still I think it could add a lot to the game. For instance, have a "merchant" class, perhaps, that ties into trading. Or a "serf" class (Depending on policies, Native American tribes as well as others did not have such systems) that works the land. This would also allow for more than one culture and one religion per province. This would solve the problem of having provinces suddenly flip from one religion to yours and instantly becoming useful. Anyway, that's my take on it, and I'd like some other opinions.

The Developers said that there will be no such system.

Yeah, POPs a'la Vicky are not happening according to King. This is discussed here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...6-A-V2-like-POP-system-for-EU4&highlight=POPs . I think that even a simplified system would create lots (= too much) work. Also it might be a bit hard to get any reasonable figures of population composition for most of the world during the time period.

In my personal opinion, I think that POP-like structure would only add information overload and unnecessary micromanagement. However, some system for allowing multiple (two?) religions or cultures in one province would be nice.

EUIII Rome had a relativly simple system to track population of various classes (slaves, freemen & the rich) and that seemed to work with the EU3 engine.

Vicky style pops would be a distraction. King ruled out a vicky style pop system, but afaik noone has ruled out a Rome style one.
