Pops choosing lower stratum jobs for no reason

I have a world with thrall slaves gene modded for mining, and a full citizenship species modded for tech etc, there are empty specialist jobs available as researchers and various others yet my pops are choosing to mine and replace the better slave counterparts?

No longer playing so can’t get a pic but 110% had 0 jobs disabled or marked down as less important.

This happened to me on my current play through when I had a lower stratum job prioritized. Once I removed the prioritization, the specialist jobs filled in. I don't know if this is new in 2.6, but I've never noticed it before. I've also never played with slaves before this game.

Job prioritization is one thing you can try, another option is enabling and disabling one job, this will cause the jobs to recalculate.
