Does anyone know what ports Stellaris uses for communicating over the Web? Whenever I host a saved game from a previous multiplayer game, my friend cannot see the server appearing in the list, nor is there an option to connect via IP. I'm assuming I need to forward the ports so that he can see it.

You do not need to forward any ports. Google "steam ports" to see which ones the Steam Client uses, that need to be opened (NOT forwarded) in all your firewalls.

This is a known bug. There is a workaround.

1) Host the game and invite your friend to play via Steam.
2) Your friend accepts the request but when you get their hot join request DO NOT accept it. Instead they need to cancel their hot join request themselves.
3) Your hosted game will now show in the server list, I find usually right at the bottom.
4) Select that to join as normal.
