Guess might as well start this one, for all the things that should make it into 1.1 =)

Note that the expanded graphics is incredible and I'm definitely not here to catalog all the bugs, just the ones I run across. Hopefully other people start helping once they play their first round :p I'm definitely not complaining so far; definitely worth the wait.

Visual Bugs:
x At extremely high resolutions (1920x1200) the "loading settings / cvars / etc." words are cut-off in the initial load. 1680x1050 does not appear to have this issue, nor does 1920x1080
x Same issue upon loading the scenario, same as above.
x At high resolutions, the screen flashes a bunch at random, usually right after clicking something. It does less so at 1680 x 1050 than 1900x1200, and is worst at "loading scenario"

Game Bugs:
x (By design?) America can become fascist / socialist really fast by changing national ideals over and over... :p

Settings launcher
im assuming that the resolution settings in there but when i try and launch it it says launch from the AOD folder. I tried doing so but same message. Idk not a big deal. Seems great guys im really really impressed.
Is not replicated by myself, no issues here.

x Upon selection of tech and starting of tech w/ tech team, list of teams resets to the top (not game-breaking)

---
To show you guys that I'm not all negative here, I'll also include some (personal) Plusses that I really enjoy, even if they're small :)
Awesome fixes from HOI2:DD/ARMA:
x Music volume much more controllable than before.
x Native "sliders can be changed" icon
x Native "Open tech slot" icon
x Amazing detail into the tool tips on the top bar, nice to see where everything goes.
x Amazing statistics, and its amusing to see estonia on the efficiency pie charts at the beginning. Makes me want to to an Estonia AAR.

---
Specs:
W7, 64 bit, professional, no UAC, in Documents
Core 2 Duo P9700 @ 2.8 Ghz (6 MB L2)
4 Gb PC3-8500F RAM
1 GB Nvidia 260M GTX
320 Gb, 7200 RPM HDD (forget what company atm)

You mean like in HoI2 where you get to 75% dissent by switching ministers again and again and then wait for the revolution event?

My specs:

Intel Centrino (dual core) @ 2,4 ghz)
Vista
4 gb ram

Starting with 1280 x 800 (not windowed) = CTD
Starting with 1440 x 900 (not windowed) = works fine

Speed:

At extremly fast, 150 s (!) for one month in 1936 as Estonia & Haiti. Ran a test with Arma 1.3beta2. Same settings: 45 s. Also not "laggish" when scrolling the interface. Hmm.

Other impression: seems to you've mad a very good and solid game! Congrats!

Thats what you get for me updating at 3 AM :D please don't get me wrong lmao. It'd be nice to see how much dissent it creates, though its pretty easy to figure out.

Some prelim. things:

1. Had a CTD in the middle of playing the Korean War scenario. No idea what prompted that.

2. Started a 1936 game as Germany. First thing I noticed: NO NATION had a surplus of rares. Every country had either a deficit or was just meeting their demand. (Oh wait, no, Ecuador had a surplus of 1.5 rares. But that was it.)

3. Same game, while doing the standard "game-start" actions (assigning tech teams, spies, changing ministers, organizing the military, etc.) I looked up and saw my dissent had suddenly jumped from 0% (after the Rhineland event) to 17% dissent. I had made no other changes and the event log was completely unhelpful in telling me what suddenly made my dissent skyrocket.

I'm not proclaiming this thing broken from the get-go, but this was stuff I noticed within the first five-ten minutes.

Game as France, Aug 36, Germany has a positive rares surplus of 23.79; does appear to be overall less rares and other commodities in AoD but that is WAD I expect due to the new oil and synthetic plants

So far the game is great, well done to all

Only bug I've noticed so far is an old Arma one, Lahore Province, what will be Capital of Pakistan does not have a VP and therefore makes any late war Indo-Pakistan War a bit of a cakewalk, as Pakistan has no VP's.

Thank you

Could the dissent have come from changing ministers?

Gave it a restart. I realized the extra dissent came from me moving my central planning slider twice at the start instead of once.

The "not enough rares" thing seems to have disappeared as well. So, everything's a-okay then. :eek:o

Also I have to say that auto-trade initiator is very well implemented. I started the thing and within a day it got me a surplus of at least 50 in every resource. Quite nifty to have that. :)

I have no idea why the loader isnt the one per default attached to the link - but please switch the link to arsenal.exe, or start it directly in the directory.
There you can see all valid fullscreen resolutions supported by DirectX.

Also the time suprises my a bit IIRC i have ~56s in AOD and ~40s in Arma 1.2 for one month 1936...
But the good thing is that the lategame slowdown is not nearly as big, so at wartime AOD should be faster...

That was a bit strange indeed and it became even stranger when I run it on my way slower stationary (dual core 2 ghz, 2 gb ram, no especial gfxcard and xp) and I was down like 70-80 secs for a month... Hmm.

Oh, also found the arsenal .exe hehe thought it was a bit hard core to having all players going in via settings to change res.. but kinda cool.

My impressions so far

(Started German 1936 campaign at normal difficulty.)

Stable, no CTD so far.

Not sure, but compared to other HOI2 versions it seems a little bit slower (running at Very Fast).

Save time is considerably longer, upwards of 30 seconds for both normal save and autosave. (Compared to the normal few seconds I get with other HOI2 versions.)

Spies seem effective. Maybe I ran wild with my spies (current money cost 46 at full spending). Prioritized myself at 10, CW at 9 and France at 8. After getting a couple of spies more than at start into both CW and France I gave them Steal Blueprint missions. Now, at beginning of 1937, I have stolen at least 6 techs each from CW and France. In the long run, that should give quite an advantage. Of course, I am only starting out, could be I am spending way too much on spies compared to what else I should spend on :)

I try to change the screen resolution on the loader page (I want to play in 1920x1200), but when I hit the "start game" button, I get an error box and it says this:

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\Arsenal of Democracy\settings.cfg' is denied.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Needless to say I'm sure there is a way to work around this problem but I'm not sure how. Anyone have any ideas? Also, "Windowed Mode" is in red lettering and it won't let me check that box.

Also, "Windowed Mode" is in red lettering and it won't let me check that box.

Since the access is denied i can think of 2 possibilities:
1) the file has somehow gotten marked as write protected
2) your security level is per default blocking changing files (vista?) - maybe try to run as administrator?

About windowed mode - please read the popup help text when you come near the text - basically its because the europa engine only supports 16 bit desktops when running windowed mode.
Change destop colors to 16 bit and you are good to go.(or run fullscreen)

same bug as in arma 1.2 extremely fast setting not available in the menu, only in game.

curiously 1920x1200 (max. 1600x1200 16bit) not available at the settings menu, but works fine, if i change it manually in the settings.cfg file

Hi there,

- heavy flickering of loading screen at 1920x1200 resolution

- nitpicking considering the audience for this game :p, but it seems like the tutorial have not been updated (still says you can have up to 5 tech slots, for ex). Could have been useful to learn the AoD additions there...

D

either i'm doing something wrong or the block export option isnt working, i have initiate trade and reply to trade on automatic and i have the block export of money option ticked and all of my trades are money for something. has anyone had the same problem?

EDIT: it seems to work for other resources but not for money.

Thats the advanced trading AI kicking in - if you have nothing to sell (you are just barely reach the targets) it cannot buy for you without using money.

(but no one can ask for money from you - only the initate trade AI will break the block if it has no other valid option)
