Oh, sorry to hear that, hopefully someone, somewhere will push some buttons and put that up for you guys soon. I really hate this region locking stuff they are doing these days, it usually works against us in the UK (but not this time).

I guess they are doing so as we speak. Or maybe they found some last-hour issue and had to hold it for a day or two to fix before masses get the DC?

Anyway, how's the new patch working for you besides that crash you still haven't posted a log of? :)

Ironically, I haven't had much time to play with it yet, I purchased another naval game recently "PT-Boats Knights of The Sea" and am trying to wean myself off it and get back to EIC, I'll give it a good try tonight, can't wait to see how they have implemented the "tactical land battles".

I've be more excited if we knew anything about the add-on or the director's cut. All I can see about the 'cut is it has "many improvements" and Privateer will let you be a privateer, I guess, although how different that is from being a pirate in Pirate bay I don't know. Where's the hype, sneak-peeks and DDs?

I agree. Would like to know the game features and improvements before I buy. How does a Pre-order download work anyways? Do I pay today and then have to come back on a certain date to download?

I believe you pre-order now, you might pay now or when Privateer ships, and you can download Director's cut now and then Privateer when it's released.

I'm glad sonarman posted this. I saw the post last night and pre-ordered, and played the Designer Cut for a couple hours.

- Port view has changed quite a bit, it takes some getting used to. There is now a "sell all" button so you don't have to sell each product separately, and buying and selling is managed by a slider instead of blocs of ten.

- I got to fight the new island environment once. Instead of open sea or a coast there are little islands like obstacles that you can maneuver around. I wish you could choose this map in the single battles, but you can't, it's still random. They did make it where you can choose your countries though.

- Sometimes when a port has a special demand for a product, it will pay 3x or 5x more, not just always double prices.

- The ocean on the strategic level looks nice now, like the water on the tactical level, not just a plain blue.

^^ Those are things that stuck out to me in the little time I played, I'm sure there are other details I didn't notice. They did good work but don't expect the game to be majorly changed.

Thanks for the info on the Cut!

Is it 27th yet? Cant wait for the Designer's Cut to start a new campaign.

I hope it works with my East India Company version bought via SD's Impulse.

I get it quite a lot when single-battling. But since those maps are random, you never really know what you will get each time.

There always are patches for all the media where you could purchase the game, Steam and Impulse included. Sometimes they come a bit later though.

Soon, I hope. I found X-3 Terran Conflict on the cheap and bought it right after they announced the Designers cut was coming. Been playing that instead of EIC. Can't wait to start again with the added content after not playing for over 2 weeks now.

I bought Privateer today from Gamersgate and i have the disigner's cut also today.

Played Privateer for an hour and i don't like it very much.I was attacked by a Brittisch Galleon right from the start and lost it.A few minutes later my other fleet had the same result after meeting a pirat Galleon.Game over.

I tried to buy from Steam, idiots. I own EIC, bought it from Best Buy. Steam kept telling me I couldn't buy Privateer because it required another game to buy. I shot them off a note telling them they lost a sale because their dumb program won't let you buy unless you obviously have bought the original from them.

The way Steam works it's impossible to update a game with an add-on if the game itself wasn't purchased from them.
