The official site of MadMinute Games

And this is one of the responses from one of the developers concerning the "Ah, if the publisher is Paradox, I won't buy this game ever" problem some posters have it.... Hope for a great partnership :)

I've been reading some of the comments about Paradox on our forums. Some of the stuff I just don't understand. Paradox is our publisher, they are not developing or designing the game. So many people had the same problems with Activision Value. Another company that did not develop or design the game. MadMinute are the only people responsible for the content of this game. If it's great, thank us, if it sucks, blame us. But to judge a game on who the publisher is I find ridiculous. We create the game, then we get a publisher, not the other way around. We fund the game with our sweat, not with publisher money. It's our game and will always be our game. When you see MadMinute and TakeCommand, you know what you're getting. The content of the game has nothing to do with who publishes the game.

That being said, I just don't get people busting on Paradox. Look at their portfolio. They have over 50k people on their forums, over 300-400 currently on most times that I look. These guys know strategy titles. They know wargamers. I can't think of a better match for MMG. Look at their titles, they have classics in their portfolio. I only wish that we could have their sales someday.

I don't know how many of you realized this, but one of my personal major decisions for going with Paradox was Hearts of Iron II. This game came out almost exactly when CWBR came out. I remember being so jealous of the publicity that HOI was receiving, when we got none. I remember seeing it flooding store shelves while we were still waiting for CWBR to even show up. I saw adds, I saw PR, while CWBR got nothing. Look at their most recent title. I don't look everywhere, but just in my browsing I've seen adds for Diplomacy in the 3 major PC Game magazines and I've seen a microsite on the Wargamer. I saw HOI2 in my local Walmart, while CWBR never made it there. I see their games with a worldwide release while CWBR never made it out of the US. I see a publisher with a press release on their site 4 months before the release, while CWBR was a secret even after the release date, our release date was 1/11 and they finally admitted to it on 1/24. We have PR people contacting us, stuff is happening and we can't even keep up.

So please, let's give everyone a fair shot. We have never dealt with them before. So whatever misgivings you might have about Paradox, hold off on them. We'll let you know how it went after it's over. Their job is making the entire world know about TC2M and we are confident that they will do their job well. They are also personally responsible for any goodies that come in the box, you can thank them for those. They are also not giving us any flak about the title. No paragraphs this time. It's Take Command - 2nd Manassas till the end. They are offering the game at a fair price, they understand the game. So I'm going to hold off on any judgement until the release date. I hope that you will do the same. Let's all hope for the best, because we have met face to face, something that we never did with AV, and we feel that this is a perfect match.

I totally agree. Anyone who can share a really in-depth AAR for Bull Run? I would share my experiences of the beta but it would be more interesting to read from someone who actually wins a battle every now and then :eek:o ;)

I did a kind of half-assed one about 6-8 months ago in the GF, but with search down I'm not sure how to find it. If no one can dig that up, I might be able to do one tomorrow. Dammit, if this had only been announced two days ago... :D

BTW, any chance on a downloadable version? Shipping to Iraq/Afghanistan might be a bit difficult. :p

Will the game have multiplayer capability over the internet?

From their FAQ:
8. Will there be multiplayer?

We have to wait until after the initial release of the game to work on multiplayer. We just don't have the time or resources to develop both the singleplayer and multiplayer games at this time.

Conclusion Having spent several weeks playing a beta build of Take Command: 2nd Manassas, MadMinute appears to be well on their way to creating a sequel that will do Civil War: Bull Run justice. Even though the beta lacked high resolution units and a variety of scenarios, campaigns, and additional “Custom Battle” options, it was still nevertheless impressive. With a little more polish and the finishing touches that a gold copy should have, Take Command: 2nd Manassas will keep Civil War buffs and avid strategy gamers busy for quite some time
