Description​

Sometimes under Primogeniture Succession Law the mechanic breaks and the game designates your youngest child.

Steps to reproduce​

It breaks randomly. Just keep breeding more heirs and eventually the game will switch to Ultimogeniture rules despite having Primogeniture Succession Law active.

Are you sure the oldest male child also have the born in purple trait ?

Hello! Thank you for your report. I was unable to reproduce this bug on my end. Could you provide a save where this issue occurs? A Kazarion said, born in purple trait also overrides the succession law.

For the Byzantines, there are special Rules, like the oldest "Born in the Purple" Child inherits and not Childs without this Trait, another Rule is, if a character miss any body parts or is celibate, there are not able to inherit anything.
