Prince title regarded as King

I've been playing a game as the Pechenegs. They were initially Pagan but I converted an hier to orthodox and so when my ruler died I went from Tribe of Pechenegs to Principality of Pechenegs. I then got several other Prince titles. Sadly there seems to be some confusion over what my real title is. On the start up screen it says King of Pechenegs Duke of Karvuna etc. In game I also get all the benefits of being a King yet when I look at my character screen it says he is Prince of Pechenegs Karvuna etc. I also can't pledge alliegance. I had all these benefits whilst I was a High Chief but assumed it was something Pagan specific.

How do I stop being regarded as a King and become a run of the mill Prince?

How do I stop being regarded as a King and become a run of the mill Prince?

Look for the "country" section of the save game, find the "PECH" tag, and then look for "tier = kingdom" below that. Change the tier to "tier = duchy".

The game may describe you as a King on country selection, but you should still be in the duchy list and treated as a Duke (Prince) after that.
