Low on food. Farm set to max priority. There is also an electronic factory set to max priority.

Botanist bails on farm to make electronics, which we aren't nearly in need of.

I don't understand their logic.

The system is very simple and straightforward. It will try and fill each workplace with workers equally, paying attention to specialists when it can, and going by priority first. Max priority gets filled before lower priorities are touched.

If two buildings have equal preference, then why not bias towards their citizens profession? Or need for the resource?

Why should a Scientist leave their job at a research institute to go work at Polymer factory? Especially when polymer production is doing fine?

I'm pretty sure from my understanding priorities are too about drones constructions and fixing buildings. Top priorities buildings are always fixed or build sooner than low priorities ones. From what i've read they just improved the allocation of workers i nthe new patch.

Because it ignores production. The game doesn't know how "good" production is, it relies instead on the priority system to interpret what the priority for resources is. It's switching jobs likely because your polymer factory has a lot of job slots empty that need to be filled. That's all it cares about - number of job slots at that priority level. If the polymer production is fine, reduce its priority or close job slots.

Because the game cannot estimate what ressources you will need in X time.
And because it will priorize having equal % of workforce in all shifts and buildings of the highest priority, over staffing buildings inequally but with specialists. If you have 6 botanists and 4 engineers, it will send 1 botanist over to the engineers so both buildings have 5 people. If you don't need as many Engineers, because you don't intend to use the assigned ressource as much, then block off some work slots.

To be honest you should be able to set different work and maintenanc priority.

As well be able to set an ideal number for each storage as well as its pirority for supply.

Yes please! This is one of my biggest annoyances right now is the priority system is all but useless right now because it controls multiple different things. Want to lower priority on that concrete extractor so it loses power first if a rover starts charging? Sorry, can't do that or the drones will stop emptying out the outputs and/or not bother to repair it when needed. Hide it behind an advanced toggle or something really needed, but I want 3 different priority settings: 1) Drone priority, 2) Power/water/oxygen priority, 3) Worker priority.
