I have a colony on St. Thomas with troops occupying it and am unable to access the colony to view its progress. In my last game when I had provinces in the Caribbean, I couldn't view them either if there were troops stationed there. Does anyone know how to do this without removing the troops?

Generally, if you keep clicking around the island, you will eventually find a tiny spot that will bring up the view colony screen. Irritating, but possible.
Alternatively, now that I think about it it may be possible to view the colony from the colony listing in the "histories" section. (The scroll in the lower left that isn't the "missions" scroll) You may (not certain) be able to view it from there.

Another technique is to go to the colonial map view (or is it economic?) and right click - I think the option is "view".
