when i try to install the patch all i get is a message saying " An installation support file C:/Program Files/Common Files/InstallShield/engine/6/Intel 32/iKernel.exe could not be installed the filename directory nameor volume label syntax is incorrect" i tried to install it over a clean copy of HOI running Patch 1.03 but have had no luck so any help would be good.
did you do the install from a saved file, or direct from the internet? i was not able to get the saved (in download directory) to work, so i went back to PE and did the install from the internet. works fine.
hmmm. that is strange. i have tried several times to install from a saved download of the update file. it has never worked. btw, i do not have any games (that is, not just HoI ! ) on my "C" drive. that may be the reason. FWIW, i now have three copies of 1.06c on my "E" drive [in folders HoI5, HoI6, and HoI7 ]. in each instance, i could not update from 1.02 (from CD) to 1.06c exceptdirectly from the internet. also, some of these are reinstalls, so that i have tried more than those three times to update 1.02 to 1.06c...
i just did another install of HoI into a new folder. first, i install from CD. second, i ran the 1.06c upgrade from the old download, and everything worked fine! :wacko:
Not having the complete step by step history of what you have tried and done, it is impossible to say. It works now so everything is right with the world.
