Problem starting v:rev on laptop

I've installed V:REV, patched it and applied the hotfixes. The problem lies in that when I start the game, The victoria program rather than binkplayer ends up on top which results in a black screen. If I press ESC Victoria stays on top but locks up. If I TAB to Binkplayer it plays the intro but then vicky locks up. Mind you I've gotten it to work once. But after that I've tried 5 times without success. Any suggestions?

If I may guess, you probably have a wide-screen monitor on your laptop, because I had similar problems with my new wide-screen monitor. I noticed that right clicking my mouse helped to avoid this problem.

First thing to try would be renaming the avi folder so that the bink player doesn't load. Did Victoria work before installing Revolutions?
