I have HoI 2 Doomsday. My main computer crashed the other day, so I started up a spare one. Problem is, windows can´t identify the soundcard. (Although Ubuntu can handle it.) Thing is: When I try to start the game, it stops loading after a bit, and if I alt+tab I see a litle OK-window telling me to fix my sound. And I can´t tab back to the loading game after that.

Is there any way to play the game without sound?

I have a kind of slow computer, so even the mouse lags when I play it in Ubuntu. And even though Ubuntu can play sounds, I havent found any text whit the soundcard name. (From time to time I see some notification about sound-problems there as well. It uses some standard drives...)

Win XP can handle games pretty well, though.

Scanned the computer whit the Everest-thing. (Thanks for that tips. Had pretty much given up on identifiing the card - didnt know there were programs for that.) Identifyed the card as a Creative SB Audigy. Fixed drivers and now there is no problems what so ever!

Thanks a lot!!!
