Problem with 1187 scenario?

I've been trying to play the 1187 scenario but every 10 years or so it crashes. In the normal 1066 scenario this used to happen every 100 years or so but at the moment it has made the game unplayable.

I plan on reinstalling the game, will this fix the problem?

I've just been getting random error messages (different ones every time).

I've had that problem in the past. I just make it a point to save the game instead of reling on autosave.
