So i recently updated my mac to Sonoma 14.5, and before that the game ran pretty good but after updating it, i can only get the launcher to run and when i press the play or resume button it closes but the game never opens. Hope there is a solution soon as i was planning to play this game the entire summer and this really messed things up

I'm not aware of that MacOS version causing a general problem. What happens if you run victoria3.app directly from Finder?

What Mac model do you have; most importantly what video hardware does it have?

If i run it from finder the same thing happens, its a macbook pro 2023 m2 pro. Im sorry im not much of a computer guy, so i think by video hardware you are talking about the display which is an liquid retina xdr display

No, I meant the video hardware within the Mac. If that was an Intel video system that would be the problem. But the Mx Macs use their own custom video hardware, which while strictly speaking is a not a supported platform for the game, does in fact work okay.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Vic3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Victoria3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Victoria3 or Documents Victoria3 locations, before installing again.

**File Locations on Mac OS X**
The executable and DLC folder are in Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Victoria3/
To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and type in ~/Library/ .
The user files (settings files, error logs, saved games, mods) are in /Users/USER/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/ .

If those don't help:

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/pdx_settings.json .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/crashes/ folder, attach here the latest (only!) exceptions.txt

That did the trick, thank you so much!!
