I've been trying to make some events. I followed the guide in the main directory, and checked my events with a parser which I guess approved it (I don't know how parsers work or really what they're for, but it stopped giving me errors, so I assumed I was right). Also, I added the events to the appropriate countries in eventslist, and added the new event file to events.txt, all done the same way the others in the file are done. The events didn't fire in my save game. When I try to load up a normal scenario I get "unknown lhs in-game event" at the command = part, then I ignore to get "unknown data defined in event database" at the type = secedeprovince part. When I ignore that the game loads fine and works. Will my new events not work with my save game? Also, what am I doing wrong with the actual events? If you need me to upload the file tell me so, but I'd rather not go through the trouble if I don't have to(it's on an internet incapable computer and I'd need to find something to upload the file to). Also, I don't actually have to have a offset and a deathdate do I? The guide says it'll read it as happening on that exact day, but every event I've read has the latter two features, so I'm wondering if I need to have an empty value for offset and deathdate, or something to that end?

just copy here one or two events to control them :)
but i suppose you're using IDS not free, or maybe you've forgotten some brackets.
you have to add date & deathdate just if you want that your events fire in an exact period of time

You have to add entry of events.txt (event = "<path>\<name of event file>") for the new file in events section of the savefile too (where all other 'event =' directives are located).

well... i suppose he added it or the file wouldn't have been loaded, like the famous # before the event :)

I'm not really sure what I did, but I made it work. Also, I started a new game, I guess playing with my old save caused the events not to fire, but in the new game they worked perfectly, so yay.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit, but I don't have a backup of the non-working file, so I guess I'll never know exactly what it was.

if you get an error in any event file , the next events ( down the list AFTER the event that has something missing in coding) will never trigger as well, even if those are PERFECTLLY coded and independent of the buggy one that you must "ignore" when loading
