I have a problem with connecting to a game on multiplayer. It is up to date with version 1.06c, no mods or modded files in at all...

A message comes up "No game detected at IP Adress (shows IP). Please check the adress and try again" (Or something like it)

Whats wrong?. I will try re-installing the game... although the uninstall file dissapeared ( how?), I just delete some files (the main ones that would effect the game, so I wouldnt delete music... saves... etc...) then click "repair" and it baisically re-installs.

I think I tried re-installing before... but I will try again.

But can anyone help?
(HoI does work on Lan for me...)

When this get this problem, it often means that the host has a router with closed ports so you should try again with different hosts to see whether it's you or them.

Andrew

It happens with every game... It happened ever since I got my broadband.
That link you gave... didn't work, although I might PM that guy and see, because I have a different brand of broadband, and the settings he gave didn't correspond with mine.

That thread is very long. Read it all through and you might find your solution.
Also check if other people can join the game. If they can't, the problem is at the hosts end.

No... I read through 7 pages, and nothing :(... I posted there, I hope someone can help. It is the same problem, but I have a different brand... and it has to be done differently.

Also, it is my problem, since I tried to join a game, which 5 other people joined.... :(

Similar problem

we had six machines hooked up via a switch - and played MP LAN - no problem.

Five months later we tried again, this time one of the machines could not join the game. It was sending and receiving packets but could not 'see' the host machine.

The only significant thing that had changed was that the guy had installed a virus checker so we switched it off - problem solved

yes, turn off antivirus and firewall program.
you then have to open the indicated port:2300-2400(wich means from 2300 to 2400) the other :47624(i'm not sure).

Make sure the XP (or other) firewall is off, you will have to restart to get it truly off. And watch out, that bugger might reactivate itself  . Also try as suggested to disable your antivirus program to see if this causes the problem. If not, switch it back on, if it does, get another antivirus program (I use the free AVG edition, works fine).
