Hi!

I try to start a multiplayer game, and it happens every time; I get the "could not find game" error.

I recently got cable "broadband", and I only use a cable modem, not a router. I run Windows XP, and have disabled the firewall included in the operating system.

I remember I tried to play Europa Universalis 2 via the Internet, and I am sure I got the same message there. But then I used an ISDN-connection, and I did not use a firewall. So what can it be, why am I unable to join IP-hosted games and games on Valkyrienet.

Yesterday I tried to play with my cousin. I don't think he has a firewall, but I was unable to join his games. When I run "command/ipconfig", my IP-adress is displayed, right? But I see two IP-adresses there, maybe I should use the other one? And if I run the command "ipconfig/all" I get a lot of IP-adresses.

Does anyone know the answer to my problems? I'm dying to play Hearts of Iron against other humans!

It's a very regrettable situation that unfortunately Paradox don't care to fix. There are multiplayer protocols that work through NATs, firewalls, routers, etc. just fine. But Paradox chose the simple route, which is to use Microsoft's DirectPlay. I don't even know if it's any easier, it's just the more 'obvious' route. Needless to say I've asked time and time again for them to renovate this feature of the game, but my requests fall upon deaf ears. Their response? "We're overworked." I agree! So pump out fewer, but better-programmed games in a year, or do what other companies do -- hire more workers when you can't meet demand without sacrificing quality & usability.

We should start a petition, or something like that! Paradox, please make it easier for us to play online!!
